Please post spoilers and reactions to Episode 7 in this thread. As always, I'd like to share my insight about the production process with you before the event is posted.
Production Diary (6/11/08): Started capturing Episode 7 but only completed one final match. The three other matches I tried to capture weren't up to my expectations and were slow-paced and repetitive...too "early YouTube era" for my liking. I'll try to capture the rest in the next few days and start editing by the weekend.

Good. Don't settle for crap matches. That's where most of your criticism lies when it comes to reading peoples responses about URWL.

Production Diary (6/15/08): Finished capturing Episode 7, including the retakes I mentioned above, so I'm ready to edit.
Also, this probably will be the first and last episode with the generic name "URWL Wrestling". For Episode 8, I'm thinking of going back to URWL RUSH, the name of the URWL's "flagship event" in the text-based era. However, that will mean I'll have to make a few tweaks to the namebars, logos and overall production, since that event's color scheme was red, black and yellow.
Overall, I'm feeling really good about this event and hope that it'll be up either this coming weekend or sometime next week. However, in case rendering goes awry like it did at Discontent and Digital Mayhem, I will be giving plenty of time before I post everything...and I plan to post every match this time in one night.
Another thing you all will be seeing is ACTUAL commercial breaks. This will give me a chance to edit out a lot of my big mistakes (yes, that's what I use commercial breaks for in the YouTube Era), put up some promos and get a chance to put some comedy in the shows. This will make the show behave much more like a real show and really differentiate the episodes from the supercards.
Also, I'm looking to split videos in PORTIONS (Part 1, 2, 3, etc.) instead of in-between matches, all because of the time and space advantages of FileFront over YouTube. The only thing I have to worry about, in this case, is putting the video file size under 1 GB. I'm a video purist of sorts and I'd like to deliver great video quality to you through FileFront, but I know I'll have to sacrifice time to do so. I need to find a perfect balance of good video quality and content to make it under one gigabyte. Also, I will not split videos in the middle of matches. I'll try to stay away from that. That's not to say there may be strategically-placed "YouTube Commercial Breaks" after matches or promos, but I'll try to keep those to a minimum.
This new format will allow us to accomplish a bit more in the way of promotional videos or angle-based content. The first few FileFront episodes (URWL Wrestling Episode 7 and the new RUSH Episode 8) will experiment with some of these ideas. As I said in the "Anything We Can Do Better?" thread, I will NOT be doing the run-of-the-mill SMF, ICCW or DWA promo (mindlessly taunting in a ring, text-to-speech, or text on a screen). Garycanrana from EFW (EFWwrestling on these boards) introduced me to a program he uses that actually makes wrestler promos a lot easier. I'm not quite sure if I'll start using it in Episode 7 or in Episode 8, but it has the potential to really be a powerful utility in the CAW world.
Again, Episode 7 will be the first and last show under the generic "URWL WRESTLING" name. Episode 8 will contain a new logo, new name, new theme and new production...it will be the resurrection of RUSH.

Production Diary - 6/21/08[/u] Editing's progressing quite nicely at this point but I haven't completed everything yet because of more important matters in my life at the moment. Along with some experimental promos and commercial breaks, there's another new feature I plan to test out in Episode 7: wrestler-specific crowd chants. I will discuss how I was able to do something like this after the event hits, as well as scratching the surface on the new form of wrestler promos that I'm sure will become a CAW mainstay in years to come.
I hope I can finish this by next weekend. Hopefully I'll have enough time during this week to really tackle the editing and try to compile every video segment into a show. Get ready for a great recovery from the disappointing ending of the YouTube era...

Production Diary (6/23/2008)[/u]:
I'm done editing every match...now, onto the hard part: commentary, promotional stuff, commercials and combining everything into a "show" format. The thing I really need to worry about at this time is...well...time. Not only am I worried about a "time versus space" issue for the site (and how many parts I'll have to divide the event up into) but how much time it'll take for me to complete the entire event at this point.
What I'm thinking of doing, to speed up the process, is just commentating on the show in its final state (meaning exporting a big temporary file of the final product, recording all of my commentary and what-not, and then synching it up to the files I intend to export to FileFront).
Still, I intend for Saturday or Sunday to be Episode 7's post date just because it will give me the most time to prepare everything.

Cool man, I remember a Barry White chant used before. I had an idea of how to do the crowd chant myself. It was just getting enough people involved lol

Cool man, I remember a Barry White chant used before. I had an idea of how to do the crowd chant myself. It was just getting enough people involved lol Well, the chant aspect isn't done with a "big group of people in front of a microphone", at least on my end. It actually uses another 360 game. I'll describe more about it when the event hits. By the way, the "Barry" chant comes from the introduction to the Peter Gabriel video "The Barry Williams Show". YouTube it and you'll see what I mean. It just worked so well for us and it was an awesome feeling for Vince and I when we found a chant we've basically imagined for the entire text-based era.

Yeah, my idea was to get about 5 people and replicate the chant over and over, so would sound like a chant for "Logan Steel" but for the ring announcer I tried to record from Legends of Wrestling but Logan wasn't a name in it so I had to use "Lo" and "Gan" but it was obvious the gap between it even when I tried to manipulate it in vegas lol
Interested in your method as you know why Goldash.

Can we still expect to see Episode 7 tomorrow or Sunday? Or are you going to delay it until you can find a permenant site to post on?

I'm going to be out of town this weekend so it'll be delayed to sometime next week, probably before next weekend. The event itself is finished. I just need to touch some stuff up, compile and render the event overnight and then do commentary for the entire event before posting. Dedicating enough time for commentary is definitely an issue since I work afternoons and nights.

Production Diary (7/2/2008): Because I was in Toronto over the weekend and at work mostly all of Monday and Tuesday, I'm aiming for tonight to be the final or second-last night of video compiling. I was aiming to be at this point exactly one week ago, but issues relating to Vegas not loading certain video files became a big crutch in the compiling process. Since then, I've worked around those errors and look to be in good shape to finish the event tonight or tomorrow. Then, it's on to commentary and final preparations for posting on Veoh and Google. I'm aiming to post simultaneously on both sites and then providing a full-resolution, downloadable video file (albeit split due to size restrictions) on FileFront later on.
The one issue I think I'll be having with Veoh, though, is the fact that many of you may have to download their external "Veoh TV" program in order to view the episode in its entirety (it's over an hour long). However, Google Video isn't like that (to the best of my knowledge) and it shouldn't pose a problem to anyone wanting to watch the full event without downloading any external software.
Thanks once again for being patient through this matter. I hope to have the event up as soon as possible. I hope it'll be worth your time.

just so everyone knows. Veoh TV is pretty painless to download the installer takes about 30 minutes depending on connection speed, and it takes maybe 10 minutes to set up the program it is also very easy to navigate as the search feature is easy to use.

Production Diary (7/4/2008): With a whopping render time of over 18 hours, the event is finally compiled into one big video and ready for commentary and PA announcing. The event is nearly two hours long in its current state, so I'm not sure how long it'll take me. I'm planning on simply sitting through the entire event (or a majority of it) and doing the commentary "live" as the event happens. This will prove to be a more time-consuming process in the long-run but it will also make the production more efficient.
As for when the event will finally be posted? Well, keep in mind what I have to do: PA announcing, match commentary and rendering the file into an appropriate format for streaming on Veoh and Google Video. It seems simple but each process can be tremendously time-consuming. But, the good news at this point is...the hardest work is done.

Production Diary (7/6/2008): Everything is done. It's just a matter of getting the commentary edited down and synced up with the video. Expect the event sometime later today (Sunday) if all goes well.
Thank you all for waiting! The event will be posted simultaneously on Veoh and Google Video, with a (split) full-res MPEG version coming soon on FileFront.
