UFC 81 was the beginning of what was to be one of the best weekends in sports. The matches did not disappoint at all, especially Minotauro Nogueira's interim heavyweight championship win against Tim Sylvia.
However, the Brock Lesnar/Frank Mir match was exactly what I thought it would be - an exhibition of Lesnar's limited MMA experience. He's been touted as the man who would bring UFC over the top in terms of popularity, but Brock disappointed the fans yet again on a huge pay-per-view stage. Lesnar appeared to have the match, when he momentarily paused after having Mir splitlegged on the mat...and if you do that in UFC, you're as good as done. Mir placed a vicious Ankle Lock on Lesnar which eventually ended the bout...and yes, Kurt Angle was in the crowd.
I'm thinking that, if Lesnar's MMA career fizzles, he'll be running back to either Vince or Dixie. When it comes down to it, he needs a way to make a living, and if he doesn't do it in UFC, he'll do it once again in professional wrestling.

Man that is so true kinda ironic the only hold Lesnar ever tapped out to in the WWE was the Ankle Lock and he taps to the same hold in his first UFC bout. Vince is smiling though

Well, Brock Lesnar is the new UFC Champ after beating Randy Couture last night in Vegas.
I'm literally speechless.
