These forums are dead. So to make things fun, I'm going to post a very early match card for Rebirth, the special event which will open our third season and replace both Episode 10 and Discontent: The Recession. I'm also going to let you all submit suggestions or match ideas for the show. Remember, these will follow (to a certain extent) the same angles we had in Season 2, so please, chip in if you have any ideas, if only to get this board humming again.
URWL Rebirth - Special Season 3 Kickoff Event
Post Date: November 2009 Theme Song: Alice In Chains - "All Secrets Known" Tentative Card as of 9/29/09 (Please Reply With Suggestions!):Match 1:Fusion vs. The Commander vs. Cory Jones vs. Seth Stern (Four-Way Dance for the #1 Contendership of Jaime Emo's URWL Championship in the Main Event) Match 2:Taurus vs. Victor Cordaro (Singles Match for the #1 Contendership of Trent Tail's URWL HighFlyer Title) Match 3:E.O.E. vs. The Great White North (C) (URWL Tag Team Titles Match) Match 4:TBA vs. Cecilia Rincón (C) (URWL Womens' Championship Match) Match 5:TBA vs. Aleksandar "AK47" Kuleshov (C) (URWL "Russian" Championship Match) Match 6:Shane B. Perkins vs. Barry White (C) (URWL Internet Title Match) Match 7:!nterogative vs. Akina (C) (Ladder Match for the URWL Hardkore Title) Main Event:Winner of Match 1 vs. Jaime Emo (C) (URWL Championship Match)
I'd suggest taking Cory Jones out of the first match and putting Blood in his place. Also take !ntero out of the Hardkore title match and make it Scorpion VS Cory Jones VS Akina in a "Freestyle Hardkore Match" Then instead of a #1 Contendership match for the Highflyer title just make it a 3-Way dance for the title between Tail and Taurus and Cordaro. Those are my suggestions good luck and can't wait to see the logo you come up for this event.

I agree with Dev's words plus I'd like to see you coming up with someone new and making him going for the Internet Championship against Kuleshov, so you could start doing fresh feuds/angles. We always see the same names in the title belt nameplates. Can't wait for the event.

I agree with Dev's words plus I'd like to see you coming up with someone new and making him going for the Internet Championship against Kuleshov, so you could start doing fresh feuds/angles. We always see the same names in the title belt nameplates. Rated, I'm not crazy about putting any new people up for titles in their first match. Forget what I did back in the early YouTube days. I know how much of a bummer it is when new people that aren't over get the belts without audiences getting used to them (Carlito did it twice and it was horrid). I want the challenger for the Russian belt to be someone who's long overdue for a shot OR someone that the audience is at least familiar with. And I'm aware of the fact that most of the "star power" is in other matches at the moment but that could all change. Don't worry, you won't see Salvatore or Merle in this match. On a related note, I was thinking of making a Swedish MMA "rival" of Kuleshov's at one point (based on a fighter I made in UFC 2009) but I think similar styles would make for horrid matches since this isn't an MMA simulator by any means. Plus, I think AK47's angle with Commander isn't quite over. I can certainly take a break from it for a while (which is what I plan to do because three straight events with Commander/Kuleshov matches is not a good plan) but it's going to come back sooner or later. Sooo....long story short, yes, I do plan to add new people due to the increased CAW storage space but they won't be immediately thrust into title matches. If I do have new talent on the show, it'll be against other new talent in opening matches, et cetera. You never know by the time the show actually launches, however..every match in this thread is subject to change... As for the !nterogative vs. Akina idea, I had a feeling it was a big "dream match" for people around here. I thought that having a "one night only" match between the both of them could work. If I change my mind, which is likely to happen, expect both to have a big angle in the near future. But since Rebirth is a big show for the league, I think presenting some highly-anticipated contests between people who haven't fought one-another before may work in our favor. I also considered making Akina/!ntero a FHM but I'm planning to hold off on the gimmick until Mayhem. Devil, your idea about a three-way HF Title match does make sense and I took it into consideration. It's the only belt not on the line so it doesn't really make sense as a #1 Contender's affair. CKKF, I was thinking of doing a 3-way dance with the women on the roster (Kelsey, Cecilia and Jesse) for the Womens' Title but that plan's still up in the air considering we already have one elimination match (match #1) and one three-way match (match #2) on the card. Anyway, I'm conflicted in some respects over some booking issues but this is a special event, a hybrid of sorts between a normal show and a supercard, meant only to reboot the league. So, in a sense, there's bound to be things that don't make much sense in the short-term. Some angles will be recognized at Rebirth and others will be (at least temporarily) thrown out the window. But it's still a long way off and there's probably going to be many changes made by the time I start capturing.

I think a Blood Vs Kuleshov match may be very interesting... Blood's ruthless style versus Kuleshov's deadly feet... hmm. That and we haven't seen him out of Hardkore competition lately, although now that I think about it Scorp Vs Kuleshov doesn't sound bad at all either...

HEEEEEEEEEY, now I'm excited again. Bring it on. I'm really interested in seeing what quirky graphics you'll be using. Also, where will you be posting the show? I remember this being an issue after Google video shitted on the last cpv back in December.

HEEEEEEEEEY, now I'm excited again. Bring it on. I'm really interested in seeing what quirky graphics you'll be using. Also, where will you be posting the show? I remember this being an issue after Google video shitted on the last cpv back in December. Quirky graphics, yes...but to the third dimension! As was previewed in Episode 9 for those that paid attention. ;D As for the video hosting site itself, WiseVid seemed to work the best last time so that's my #1 option at the moment. FileFront for the data-only file is also a given but I may have to split the show. But let's not get too ahead of ourselves. ...and, this may sound TOTALLY crazy coming from my mouth, but I may also think of putting stuff back on YouTube (*GASP*) albeit in a censored, divided "YouTube-Friendly" version that doesn't have any "offensive copyrighted content" and that has an annoying link to the "real" event blocking the footage. Just a thought for the moment and I may simply give up on this silly YouTube idea since it doesn't fit in with the league's "Post YouTube Era" philosophy, not to mention the flagger kids would probably take me down the week after the show's been posted, even in censored form... ;D

Here's my booking thoughts on each match. Feel free to disagree. Match 1: Fusion vs. The Commander vs. Cory Jones vs. Seth Stern (Four-Way Dance for the #1 Contendership of Jaime Emo's URWL Championship in the Main Event) - I really liked Cory's "Anti-Hardcore" angle from EP9 and thought that was a good contrast with Scorp in their feud. However in this match I see him to be out of place with the other 3 and probably wouldn't make a logical pick to face Emo in the main event. - Stern vs. Emo has been way overplayed. - Fusion's been on a role lately (more so since he dropped the Linkin Park music thank god), but I don't think he's quite ready for the main event yet. Perhaps as a challenger to AK47 and his short white shorts? - I like the Commander in the main event in a face-face angle. - And also, why not put Blood in this match? someone mentioned it earlier, I like that better. Match 2: Taurus vs. Victor Cordaro vs. Trent Tail (C) (Three-Way Match for the URWL HighFlyer Title) - This resurrects the Taurus/Cordaro KC Screwjob angle and puts it on a higher plane with "T-Shirt Trent" as the champion. I like this match as it is and should have some great action with the 3rd person involved. Match 3: E.O.E. vs. The Great White North (C) (URWL Tag Team Titles Match) - I could care less about EOE. Hell, I don't even know which one is the Austrailian. I see Kelsey getting some shots in and GWN winning this one. Tag division needs more heel teams. Match 4: TBA vs. Cecilia Rincón (C) (URWL Womens' Championship Match) - Jesse Slash vs. her is getting a little stale at this point, MacDonald is involved in the tag scene. That only leaves Nakamura, if she's even still on the roster. I saw Busiwa Tanao at a Carl's Jr. cleaning vomit from a men's room stall. True story. Match 5: TBA vs. Aleksandar "AK47" Kuleshov (C) (URWL "Russian" Championship Match) - Merle Haggard Jr.? Match 6: Shane B. Perkins vs. Barry White (C) (URWL Internet Title Match) - Keep this one as-is from EP9, a good teacher/pupil betrayal angle works wonders. Does Shane B. have a name for his new facebuster finisher? Match 7: !nterogative vs. Akina (C) (Ladder Match for the URWL Hardkore Title) - A tough decision here. Booking Akina to win pretty much buries the former URWL champion, while Intero's win ruins the perfect winning streak of the Hardcore Hawaiian. I'd take Intero out of this match and put him in Match #1 and replace him with Cory Jones. Main Event: Winner of Match 1 vs. Jaime Emo (C) (URWL Championship Match) - Emo retains the belt with a clean win, regardless of a face or heel opponent. and then after the match...

Awesome post Gary. Kinda made me rethink what I had planned. So, I'm going to take a few of your thoughts into consideration: going to switch Cory with !ntero since at least Cory's position in a Hardkore Title match with Akina makes sense after what happened in Episode 9. Also Cory wrestling a Hardkore title match without weaponry (thanks to his "back to basics"/anti-hardcore approach) is going to be pretty interesting, at least on paper.
Unless anyone's really dying to see !ntero/Akina at the moment I'm going to put it on the backburner, if only to start an angle between the two of them down the road. So, if anyone really wants to see "The Battle of the Baldies" (yes, that's what I want to call it) at Rebirth, please raise your hand and say something, because I thought many people around here considered it a "dream match" of sorts. Another angle for another event I suppose. Cory/Akina Ladder Match it is (for now).
I'm not sure who to put into the Russian Title match at the moment. Fusion would make sense but I can see people writing the match off as a Kuleshov win before the match even happens, regardless of the result. Nothing against Fuse it's just that I think someone who poses a real threat to Kuleshov at the moment will suffice in that spot.
As for the Cecilia match, it just may be a three-way dance between the existing females on the roster...I was actually thinking of inserting the female CAW Contest winner (more on that later) in this slot but there goes my argument about sticking new blood in the title picture...still can't make up my mind yet. I could always steal the "Santina" shtick...just kidding.
Emo/Stern is the main angle and certainly the focus of the league at the moment but I think it's far from running its course. Sure it may be stale at the moment but we could be on to some more interesting things now that Stern pissed away his guaranteed #1 Contendership in Episode 9's main event. I think it has a Rock/Austin appeal but that's just the promoter in me talking.
HOWEVER...if I were to put Blood in the opening match in place of Stern, it could certainly make the angle more interesting...I may consider it because it turns something some viewers could see as a "guaranteed Stern win" into a very, very interesting concept. Cue the famous Dennis Stamp "I'm Not Booked" titantron...
And the only name Vince and I could come up with for Shane's head slam was "The PERK-a-lator". And then we realized how insanely stupid it was when we actually said it out loud. So we just call it a head slam now. Maybe we could have a "Name Shane's Finisher" thread like we did for Akina eons ago...anyone interested?

Sorry if this is posted somewhere before but is this the last event on 2008 or the first on 2010 just curious as if its the latter November is an optimistic post date. Not complaining just curious. Also we spoke on MSN about stuff so I don't feel the need to post ideas

First event on 2010. I'm sorry if I was unclear about what Season 3 actually meant because I just admitted most of you knew that was when we switched games and rebuilt the roster (whether on 09 or 2010, in this case, it's the latter).
And yes, November is a pretty optimistic date, especially since I have to realistically consider how long it'll take to remake everyone that's booked on the show. I'm not ruling December out but who knows how long it'll take...
ALSO, today I was thinking the AK47 match over and considered putting Scorpion in the TBA slot since he's been getting a minor push as of late. What do the rest of you think?

I think Scorp could give him a run for his money... Also I think it's a better move to put Cory in the hardkore title match considering that could really be a TLC match since in SVR 10 it's back to an actual TLC match where you have to grab the belt/object above the ring. And I can't wait to see where Stern/Emo goes from here...

Couple new additions made to the original post. Put Scorp into the TBA slot in the "Russian" Title Match (I'll remove him though if people are opposed to the idea). Took Devil's tip and changed the Akina/Cory gimmick match to a "Hardcore Rules Ladder Match" in order to correspond with the improved TLC match gimmick.
Also, planning to do an undercard for the first time ever in order to debut some new rookies I plan to work on as well as provide something to hold people over before the event hits. That won't mean that "Test Matches" on 2010 won't happen...but these will essentially be a "Sunday Night Heat" type thing before the event to put some guys on the card that aren't booked. No, I don't plan on booking Stern in the undercard either, despite his threats of having his uncle "launch an investigation".

I like the prospect of seeing newbies ;D I also want to see some "new blood" in the URWL literally and figuratively. Since they added ALOT more realism to the blood.
