That CAW Show Awards thread I just stickied got me thinking about another Awards show that you all remember well: The Fans' Choice Awards.
I guess many of you are wondering if we're going to attempt the FCA's again this year. Based on last year's results, we're going to give it another shot after Discontent: The Recession is posted. Like last year, the results will be unveiled during Digital Mayhem this coming May.
I've decided to consolidate some of last year's categories and remove some of the ones that were too similar to one-another. I'm also planning to add some categories that newsletters like the Wrestling Observer use for their award lists. Here are the planned categories. Let me know if one should be added or deleted or if one just doesn't fit in:
Projected FCA 2008-09 Categories:
- Match of the Year
- Mr. URWL Award (Wrestler of the Year)
- Most Outstanding Rookie
- Show of the Year
- Feud of the Year (new)
- Comeback Wrestler of the Year
- Best Entrance Music
- Best Finishing Move
- The Ultimate Mark-Out (Most Exciting Moment of the Year) (new)
Also, we may try something new this year: Fan Inductions to the new URWL Hall of Fame on URWL.tk. The Hall of Fame induction process won't be strictly for CAW-era competitors, though. There may be a few familiar faces on the ballot, but it'll largely be up to Vince and I to clue you in on the legacy of the text-only wrestlers we plan to include on the ballot. There will likely be three wrestlers or tag teams that will make the final cut. This could also be something we could plan for our "Tenth Anniversary" next year, however...I'm not sure right now.
All right, those are the plans, for now at least. Feel free to give any feedback you'd like because it's almost "that time" of the year again!
