Anyone excited for the new installment of GTA? It looks like it may be one of the most fully-featured video games ever released in my honest opinion...it also may take the series into a more realistic direction with a real-time physics engine designed by Natural Motion. I'll definitely be posting impressions after I buy the game Monday at midnight.

I want this game pretty damn bad. I've been reading about it on IGN and there is nothing for me to be pissed about other then not owning a PS3 or XBox 360. This game should take the world by storm far more then GTA3 and San Andreas ever did.

ONE of the reasons I bought the 360! I can't wait for this game to come out. It looks like it could be a legit Game of the Year candidate on any platform.

I've been playing it all week. Without giving much away, the missions are among the best I've ever played in a videogame, hands down. I haven't played any multiplayer but I've heard it's great so far...gotta try it myself one of these days.

Well, after beating the game, I have to say it's been a great experience. It's not a perfect game (there are still a lot of unrealistic things in it but I don't really mind) but it's certainly one of the best games I've played in years. As I said before, the missions are epic throughout the game and take a lot of the best parts of other games in the series and turn it to eleven, so to speak. Large shootouts comprise most of the last half of the game, and the new cover system (similar to one in Gears of War) adds a ton of drama to all of them. Niko Bellic is a great lead character with more depth than Claude, Tommy Vercetti and Carl Johnson from the previous games, and a lot of the crucial decisions you make are emotional ones. When the game reaches its climax, you sympathize with Niko. I couldn't say that about the rest of the series (except for a few parts in San Andreas).
The graphics are stellar. I've always been a fan of dynamic lighting, and GTA's is brilliant...you'll know what I'm talking about when you're in a helicopter or boat and see the reflection of the sun on the water. Gone are the bland interior environments of past games. Indoor areas are now highly detailed and are on par with the maps of indoor levels in first-person shooters. Character models are excellent, with main characters sporting tons of detail. NPC's, including pedestrians, are comparable with the main character models of past GTA games. They're far from bland, that's for sure.
Overall, the game is excellent and should have enough content to satisfy gamers until the new downloadable episodic content is released on Xbox Live this fall.

Damn, you beat the game already? It was only a week. I like stretching GTA out and take at least 4-6 months to beat. Every few missions I like to go off and explore as much as possible. It makes the game more enjoyable when I don't beat it so quickly.

I usually do most of my exploring after I finish the game (I particularly love getting into high-speed chases in this game, the police AI, while still pretty cheap, is improved from San Andreas, but still not quite at the level of the Need For Speed series). With that being said, I'm finding new things every day. A lot of the side missions, I'm finding, are even available after you beat the game, like the Gang Territories in San Andreas were, so there's a lot to keep you busy before you 100% it.
I still have to place first in about twenty races to get an achievement, for example...
