(ORCHARD PARK, NY): It's been nearly two years since the URWL debuted as a CAW wrestling league. In that time, many matches have become URWL staples. However, none is as monumental as one of the URWL's most out-of-control contests: the Tag Team Turmoil match. In Episode 1 of the URWL on YouTube, The Self-Proclaimed Icons captured the URWL Tag Team Titles by defeating both Merle & Hog and ScorpbrA. In Tag Team Turmoil II at URWL Discontent 2007, with the titles vacant, The Downfall Syndicate prevailed, defeating both Merle & Hog and E.O.E. and winning the same Tag Team Title belts they hold today.
Now, with the Tag Team Mini-Tournament ending in Episode 8, the Syndicate are in a position they haven't found themselves in during their time as a tag team....because they don't have a clue which match will they defend their titles in.
"The format of the mini-tournament leaves us with many options," URWL CEO Goldash007 stated in a press conference earlier this week. "but it's all up to the fans. By having 'winners' and 'losers' brackets, we decided to give fans more flexibility, not to mention a virtual dual #1 Contendership. Although the winners of Episode 8's 'winners bracket match' may win the 'real' #1 Contendership going into Popular Demand, it doesn't mean that the winners of the 'losers bracket match' are automatically out of luck. And because of that, during Popular Demand voting, fans will be able to make Tag Team Turmoil III a possibility."
Episode 8 will determine the qualifiers. In the losers' bracket match, the winless and bickering ScorpbrA will collide with the unlucky Great White North, while in the winners' bracket match, unexpected qualifiers E.O.E. and Merle & Hog will battle for the #1 Contendership. Who will win? Who will go home? And will Tag Team Turmoil III be a possibility at Popular Demand? It all begins in Episode 8 of URWL Wrestling.
