Here's an idea that (literally) came to me in a dream. Don't ask why.
For Battle of the Politicans, I'm planning to open the event with a six-man "Armageddon" Hell in a Cell match. Big deal, right? Well, here's the interesting part. Each wrestler in the match will be "drafted" by a Rantboard member. The wrestler who wins the match will get a URWL Championship shot in 2009 whenever the need arises (much like WWE's Money In The Bank). Additionally, the Rantboard member who the wrestler represents will get a chance to book an episode of URWL Wrestling at his or her request (supercards are off-limits, however). This match will be known as the first-annual Rantboard War.
Entries will be accepted after Popular Demand from Rantboard members looking to enter. The six Rantboard members that will be represented in the match will be chosen in a random drawing. Step two in this process will be a draft lottery, determining the order of which Rantboard members can "draft" wrestlers. Finally, a "draft" will be held in a special thread for all six Rantboard members selected.
Drafting wrestlers will have one small restriction, though: The wrestler can not be the current URWL Champion or #1 Contender. So, let's say Seth Stern and Jaime Emo meet again in BOTP 2008's main event for the URWL Championship. Because of this, they won't be eligible for a #1 Contender's match. All other wrestlers can be used, though, INCLUDING women, tag team wrestlers and other title holders. I was initially thinking of restricting the match to either non-title holders or wrestlers not involved in angles, but I found such a match would be too restrictive. By making the match the first match of the night, it would essentially "give wrestlers time to rest", in a way.
This will be the closest thing the URWL will have to the attachment of membership and it could be a great match if enough enthusiasm is generated.
How about it? Should I pull the trigger on this gimmick match for October's Battle of the Politicians supercard?

Sounds cool but you probably should exclude rantboard members like myself who run feds. To give others a chance to book something and does this mean plan the result too?

Since there's so many CAW league owners that post here regularly I may not put any restrictions on being an owner or not, just to give everyone an equal shot at getting into the match. As for match results, I'm still trying to figure out what'll happen in that regard. I may have to "conference" with the winner and let them know that every title can't change hands in one night, et cetera, logical stuff like that. It may be halfway between total freedom and total restriction. Maybe I can use my creative control clause, I don't know.  |

you are fucking confusing me. Sorry, I wrote the original post an hour or so after the "dream" happened. I was still in a sort of tired/excited state. Here's the match idea in lamens terms: A six-man Armageddon Hell In A Cell match will open October's Battle of the Politicians supercard. Instead of simply "wrestler against wrestler" for the #1 Contendership of the URWL Championship, I'm planning on having six wrestlers "drafted" by six different Rantboard members compete in the match for not ONLY the #1 Contendership but a chance for the "handler" to win the opportunity to book an episode of URWL Wrestling. Each "handler" (or Rantboard member) will be chosen at random from all the entrants that have signed up in a special thread. From the six rantboard members selected, a draft lottery will be held to determine who drafts their wrestler first, second and so on. After the draft (which will have a thread of its own), it's on to the match itself. That's the match in a nutshell.
Apart from that, here are some more guidelines for entry (tell me if these are too harsh): -You must be an active Rantboard member with a good amount of posts to your name. Sorry, but "one-post wonders" who sign up to the Rantboard solely to enter the Rantboard War voting will not be entered into the contest. I'm sorry if I alienated some of you but that should give those viewers out there who haven't yet signed up to join the boards in time for the match and join a lot of the discussions here in order to become eligible. -VinceNeil1981 and I will not be eligible for this match, so don't worry in this case. -Original URWL members are encouraged to sign up and represent their wrestlers once again...that's if they aren't already taken by someone else... -If you qualify for the final six spots, you will be expected to carry yourself maturely. Sure, you can trash talk, but don't go overboard. Use common sense and don't start unnecessary and uncivilized flamewars, because I have the ability to pull you out of the match and replace you with someone else. In the event of your wrestler losing, though, immaturity will NOT be tolerated. One unconstructive complaint and you will have a one-month suspension from the boards. Since the URWL's CAW era started, I've tried to stay away from that type of bullshit by not taking members. Now that I've brought something similar back, I expect you all to treat me and your opponents with respect (even though a "trash-talk board" will be set up for the six members involved). Please keep the Rantboard War tradition alive past 2008 by using common sense and maturity. -Once you draft a wrestler, you can not switch to another one or exchange with another user already in the match. If you make the final six, please plan out who you plan to draft and have alternates in mind in case your wrestler(s) have already been selected.
Yeah, rules suck, but you need to have 'em. More on the match coming soon, I guess... |
