Production Diary (8/26/2008):Why isn't it up yet? Here's why: 1. I tried being a smartass and making the video higher quality, which resulted in a 2.3 GB video size. This brought along more problems than I thought. Megavideo freezes whenever I tried uploading. Veoh, according to their forums, has a strange problem handling video files over 2.0 GB that should be addressed in the next beta of Veoh TV. That's why I'm re-encoding the file into the same quality I had for Episode 7, which should ease the file size concern (this event is shorter than Episode 7 was). No big deal. I just found out too fucking late. 2. Time. It takes a long time to render. If I didn't start PBP commentary at 10 PM Saturday night, I'd be in fine shape. But I couldn't start it at any other time, honestly...I just got back from a barbeque at the relatives' house. In other words, I have a family and life I need to take care of before I take care of the URWL. Sorry, but those of you that know me know that's just the way it goes. 3. College. Big deal, right? Wrong. I'm here from 9 (or 8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays) until 5 every day except for Fridays. And on Fridays, I plan to work later in the afternoon. Combined with the completely fucking ridiculous rendering times I'm facing, it's pretty hard for me to tend to the URWL until I come home at nights. The best thing, though, in this situation, is that I commute and am able to come back home every night. This is making things especially hard in this situation. Luckily, the extended voting period I have set up for Popular Demand will give me some time to figure out my production schedule for the show through all of this. And, yes, I promise you, the show WILL go on through all of this! I want to let you know I'm trying my hardest to bring this to you through all of this mess I've been going through. There's only so much time in a day. I tried uploading the higher-video-quality version to Google Video and it worked (it's now processing). Time will tell, though, if the video itself actually functions. Then, when I get home tonight, I'll upload the re-encoded file to Megavideo and Veoh, and we'll finally be all set. I encourage you to remain patient and not to abandon me or the league despite all the problems I've been having. They've been unpredictable oversights, and I'm not doing this on purpose. Because I've been more frustrated than all of you, believe it or not...I'm probably the most frustrated one here. And tonight and/or tomorrow, the show, finally, will be yours and I can finally open Popular Demand voting. Thank you in advance for all your patience and support through this matter...I promise the show will be worth the wait.

The show was great! I can defiantly see why it takes a while for you to get all this done because you put so much work into it all. The ending couldn't have been any better with Emo and Barry coming down to the ring and helping Taurus get the win. This was a good episode to lead into Digital Mayhem Popular Demand. Keep up this good work. (EDIT: Fixed your post . -007)

May I say the BEST spoof of the "Don't try this at home" trailer ever on this event.

Awesome show as always. The ads/commercials were great. What was up with the Shiek theme in the show? That Toyota commercial was so God damn funny. Thank you for entertaining me for a couple hours Goldash.....again.

You finally changed Cecelia's boots! Yay now she won't snap her ankles in half inside the ring!

Booker's Opinion Time...
GWN/ScorpbrA: Finally, a good tag team match! I really beat myself up over the slovenly nature of the "mini-tournament" matches in Episode 7, and after all that mess, I finally was able to produce a tag-team contest worth a damn. If I can do this at PD2008, I'll be happy. Good logic, logical tags (at least on GWN's side, if you know what I mean), and, finally, good pacing helped this match out. Probably the best "standard tag-team match" I've done in SVR, and that's really saying something.
Cyberpunk/Cecilia: Maybe a MOTN candidate, but that changes by the day, it seems. I felt really good about this match. Both competitors had a chance to show their specific offensive strengths, but in the end, Jesse proved that she's not a pushover. I felt that the ending was the best way to go into Popular Demand...it puts Slash over and reveals she isn't looking vulnerable in the face of all the hype Cecilia's generated. I also intended the finish to mirror their first match at Episode 5, indicating that Jesse doesn't seem to like a clean win. But will this come back to bite her? No comment there. Quality contest, though, much like the Cecilia/Kelsey match from Episode 7. I feel that having consistently high-quality womens' matches will reinforce what I had originally planned for the womens' division: womens' wrestling, not T&A. By the way, studying Shelby (Kolase) and Revolution's awesome female CAWS made me re-think Cecilia's attire for this show, and I think it paid off pretty well, despite the obvious Christian Cage influence. Thanks, guys, for the inspiration and all your hard work.
Salvatore/Fusion: Yes, I'm looking to push Fusion, as if you couldn't already tell. His attack against Salv really showed off his "heart" more than any of his recent contests. But, at the end, I also wanted to prove that Salvatore wasn't merely some "stooge that occasionally helps !nterogative". After his unimpressive contest at Digital Mayhem, I tuned up his moveset a bit and cut down on the repetitive moves, making for a much more consistent competitor. Although I'm building Fusion up, I'm also making Salvatore more multidimensional than he was at Mayhem. Their contest at PD2008 should be a good one, especially if it's No Disqualification. I can't afford to have either of these guys be "mediocre wrestlers" anymore.
Commander/Trent Tail: Like I said with the Cecilia/Jesse match, this may very well be the MOTN, but I can't make up my mind. I'm really pushing Commander to be the "URWL's Elite Technician" (a title he must defend against Kuleshov), and his holds in this match showed that. They all, IMO, came at logical points in the contest and helped to build suspense as well as display the diverse moveset of both himself and Tail. I really think Tail will become one of the URWL's more entertaining guys when I finally put him in a substantial angle. The "smartass" gimmick hasn't been used much in CAW (or wrestling itself for that matter) so I'm looking for the right time to really let him loose and not only be a "joke on t-shirt" guy anymore. Finally, this match sets up some animosity between AK-47 and Commander, which I know people around here have been questioning (Main_Event in particular). Let me just say that this is "only the beginning". This won't be a one-month-long angle, that's for damn sure. Finally, this will be the end of Tail's matches ending in a run-in and draw. Sing and rejoice, folks, sing and rejoice. ;D
Akina/Tomerka: Mediocre. That's all I have to say. I didn't feel good about the match, and the fact I had to work with the AI didn't make things better. A re-capture could have done this match wonders. The only thing I truly felt good about was the ending. A late chair-shot is excellent for moving an angle along. If the match only was a little more entertaining, though, it'd actually be in good shape. The "special guest enforcer" idea IMO did more harm than good in this match. And, forgive me if I mentioned this already, but dear lord, the AI sucked in this match. I guess this is SVR2008's version of karma...I praised its AI for not giving me a bad match in Episode 7's North American Championship #1 Contender Match, but it completely pulls a 180 in this contest. Like I said, it could have really used a recapture. Nothing stood out...nothing worth talking about, at least...
E.O.E./Merle & Hog: Not the best tag-team contest, but it, again, is much better than what I did in Episode 7. The ending could have been a little bit better and it could have used a more effective buildup, but, overall, I felt it did its job. Sure, it dragged on in places but it was a much more focused, logical and "better worked" match than either of their contests in Episode 7. Pretty "meh", but it does enough to put E.O.E. over, a team I really wanted to push for the past while. Pretty average fare. If this wasn't the "winners' bracket match", I would've pushed this down the card. You know what? I probably should've.
Main Event: Once again, the AI dupes me at warp speed, so much so that you can plainly see who I controlled in this contest (hint: Taurus, and the guy whose name begins with a "V"). An unseen fact of the production process, though, makes this match all the more "rewarding" from my standpoint. The "double run-in" at the end was HARD AS HELL to pull off using two controllers at once. It took about fifteen minutes before I could pull it off realistically. Since I didn't want to experiment with four AI wrestlers at once, I chose to make the run-in and the activity between Cordaro and Taurus separate matches. It's kinda jarring on paper, but I think it worked very well in the actual event. I tried my best to cut between both confrontations in order to preserve the illusion that all six men were in or around the ring at the same time. Of course, it's not as good as having six men on screen at once, but I think it did its job. So, in the end, good prevails over evil and Taurus finally gets a shot at Cordaro at PD2008. Apart from the shoddy AI, it was a pretty good contest. I actually love the ability to "cut to commercial", though. Why? I was able to cover up a split-legged moonsault that sent Victor Cordaro THROUGH the ring without recapturing. Well, at least I know I won't be able to pull anything like that off at PD2008. ;D
Overall, I thought it was a pretty good show match-wise. I'm much more satisfied with this show than I was with Episode 7, partially because of the improved tag-team matches. But with that improvement came the return of the SVR series' shitty artificial intelligence. Just writing this makes me want to stop working on PD2008's "production elements" and just start capturing, but I can't do that until the 12th. In the meantime, I'm taking a well-deserved break from all the confusion that followed Episode 8's posting. Let's hope Popular Demand works out fine!

Fantastic job! I had not seen URWL for a while since I've been busy with life things such as changing jobs in this hellacious economy, and I am very glad I did today. One question, and I apologize if this has already been covered in a thread for a previous episode, but what did you use for the did you use for the opening promo?
