Last time on NXT, we saw Vin Taylor punch his ticket to the main event of NXT: Arrival in controversial fashion. Thanks to the unstable Mark Butcher, Vin Taylor defeated Terry Atkins for the chance to become the inaugural NXT Champion. Already stirring up controversy from an assault on NXT referee Jimmy Spade, Vin Taylor & Mark Butcher would show the NXT Universe that they were just getting started. As Vin Taylor wrapped a steel chair around Atkins's neck and Mark Butcher ascended to the top rope, the NXT Universe could only watch in shock and horror. In one of the most heinous and violent acts committed in WEDF history, Mark Butcher made an unforgettable leap that would ultimately crush the Motivated 'Murican Hero's larynx. The chilling image of Terry Atkins being carried out on a stretcher has left fans with a disturbing image of the future: a future with Vin Taylor & Mark Butcher laying waste to any WEDF Superstar that stands in their path. Known as The Violent Testament, it has become increasingly clear that Vin Taylor & Mark Butcher are two psychotic, dangerous forces of evil that MUST be contained. The fate of NXT could very well lie in the hands of Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn, the two men competing in tonight's main event.
One of these two men will face The Charles Manson of Professional Wrestling at Arrival for the NXT Championship. But while the future could look bleak, the present looks promising as these two best friends and rivals clash for the first time. Owens, a prize fighter determined to secure a financial future for his family. Zayn, a battle-tested athlete hellbent on proving himself as the best wrestler in the world. These two men have a long, colorful history with one another and shared a friendship that felt like a brotherhood - but many fans have seen that brotherhood turn ugly many times before. Many fans are aware of the battles between Owens & Zayn prior to their appearances on NXT, and the stakes are high once again. Who will prevail in what's sure to be an unforgettable main event?
This edition of NXT will also feature a rematch from the first show between The Vaudevillains & The Lucha Dragons as both teams attempt to establish themselves as worthy competition for the talented, although egotistical, Bladerunners. And we'll open our show with what's sure to be an exciting battle between Adrian Neville and Tyler Breeze as both men remain on the hunt for the right to be the first man to challenge whoever will stand as NXT Champion when the dust clears!
