(BUFFALO, NY): After multiple injuries suffered at the hands of former protege !nterogative during last night's Roughness event at RBN Studios, 61-year old Santino Michael Salvatore, known under the "Salvatore" ring name, was released from his URWL contract in an injury settlement.
This injury settlement reportedly comes in the form of a deduction to Joe "!nterogative" Intero's own paycheck and is rumored to total well into the six figure range.
An ex-convict and former URWL Champion, Salvatore rose to prominence as the mastermind of his "Mafia" stable. The first Mafia, a ruthless heel stable, quickly brought Salvatore to the top of the URWL standings and the URWL Championship, attained through the most devious of means in the year 2001. The 2002 iteration of the Mafia, however, was embraced by (the now-named) UNW fanbase as saviors of the company. With corporate support from UNW Co-Owners Goldash and Matt Verge, this new Mafia defeated the nefarious Maximum Force stable that threatened to take over the company and re-brand it "Maximum Force Wrestling". Salvatore was hailed as a savior and his place in promotional history was cemented.
By 2003, however, Salvatore and the Mafia were back to where they started out: As an underhanded group of rogues. With new young members in their fold, including the Super Powers of Italy tag-team (who famously feuded with Barry White and Shane B. Perkins, the Self-Proclaimed Icons), the Mafia seemed to be poised to regain control of the UNW but failed to spread their influence. Salvatore famously battled old rival Barry White at Digital Mayhem 2003 for the #1 Contendership of the UNW Championship but was later famously arrested during the UNW's final supercard, Spring Breakdown 2003 and wasn't seen until his return at Discontent 2007.
!nterogative confided in Salvatore to retain the URWL Championship at Discontent, famously shutting out the lights on #1 Contender Jaime Emo in order for !nterogative to win both the URWL Championship and Internet Title. !ntero later gave Salvatore the Internet Title at a press conference, which he lost to returning rival Barry White at Digital Mayhem 2008.
During their alliance, !nterogative went on a career-worst losing streak since Salvatore's interference at Discontent. The advice and strategies Salvatore masterminded turned out to backfire as !ntero decided to blame his struggles on his mentor. At Roughness, a monster not seen since Season 1 emerged as Salvatore was helpless to resist a sickening onslaught by the former URWL Champion.
The URWL wishes Mr. Salvatore the best of luck in his recovery and will support his efforts in the case he should one day decide to return to active competition.
OOC: Despite Salvatore being written off our show due to injury, this does not make him a "free agent" CAW IRL. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
