Just like every URWL event, use this thread (and not YouTube comments) to spoil or comment on the premiere of the newest URWL series, Roughness!

I loved this event, I enjoyed the first match it was a nice high paced opener that set you up perfectly for a longer secondary match I was in the know to a little bit of it, but it didn't turn out how I pictured it, which is a good thing. I loved the show of respect at the end as I wasn't sure if there was going to be a waffling. I was very pleased with Brent's efforts in the match, and Thompson was a deserved winner.
Then there was the promo with Jessica (I couldn't quite tell if it was Waugh or Wong) I like that you were trying with this segment but I did notice a couple of really weird movements(I'm sorry for saying that), I loved the promo itself though with Emo showing his anger towards Salvatore/!nterogative and I think towards Goldash a little too, I suspect he may be feeling the pressure of the championship. Looking forward to when he defends it the build up is great so far.
Scorpion vs Shane B was a really well done match, a classic to be fair. I loved the samoan drop spot because I really didn't see it coming, the finish I kind of saw Scorpion missing that axe handle, but overall I loved this match. Seeing Shane B's new attire makes me glad you went with Brent's Golden Axe attire as the base of his main one is so similar to Perkins' on WWE 13 which I liked the design by the way, got a soft spot for white attires done well.
The Roughness Rankings was a good segment as it allowed people to cool off a little bit for the main event and just enjoy the showcase of your production skills, seen a lot of tweets about envy on that regard, and I too fall into that category.
Then it was the main event, as a person who generally isn't a fan of tag matches in general this was great, it was ambitious and you definitely pulled it off. I sensed the turn coming but I honestly expected Drasen and Salvatore to be leaving with !ntero lying on the floor a broken man. I do sense that Drasen and !ntero could face each other sometime in the future. So that was a good bait you got me with that one, and man what a temper !ntero has I almost felt sorry for Salvatore during that massacre. The dragging part must have taken some time to set up, but worth the effort I think.
Going to quickly mention the production again, it was fantastic I do have a tiny gripe, during the replays I felt the live feed section could have been a little bit bigger, but that is just minor. Loved the show if I gave out ratings you'd get 5/5 for it. Commentary as always was great, always felt you were the best commentator in CAW and I've said many I time that you should be calling real wrestling matches.

Then there was the promo with Jessica (I couldn't quite tell if it was Waugh or Wong) Damn commentary track! lol. She's Jessica Law, like I said in commentary she used to be a manager and female wrestler at one point during the text days. She, essentially, was Steph whenever we'd show photos of "Regime" era HHH as The Hammer . Later on she managed a few others and wrestled as well. My memory is fading on the earlier stuff but I think she was a Women's Champion as well simply because we didn't have many females on the roster so we essentially used managers (the more things change, the more they stay the same, lol). Thanks again for the support, Jay, and for the opportunity to have Brent on the show. I know it took a while ( ) but I'm glad I was able to capture his spirit in the match.

I really don't watch a lot of leagues due to my own belief that I have a certain standard for leagues that is just unattainable. Certain things turn me off very easily; for example, match quality - at least give me some semblance of psychology or give me spots that carry the match - or stale commentary with a lot of dead air or the dreaded "OH LOOK! THIS MOVE! AND NOW THIS MOVE! AWW SHIT WHAT'S THIS? THAT MOVE!"
URWL is one of the few leagues where I can throw all of that out the window. For everything where I could be like "meh, he could do better on these matches" about, you just have so much propping the show up and making it must see. Presentation, commentary (I'm jealous, you have a sexy voice and you're so good at it, it makes me glad to know there's more than just me out there), the best editing/show direction in the game by far - it's all brilliant. I was discussing this with Kondori on Skype - if we start seeing URWL incorporate custom sequences/spots like the ones in the RBN Community's Best Match of 2013-2014, TCW*'s incredibly deserved bout between BB Disco & Hijo Del Reyes? URWL would be unstoppable. Like, it wouldn't matter what anyone else was doing, because you'd have it - the league would just be damn near flawless.
You know how a few of us from the group that watches CAW shows over on Taima watch good shows/sometimes bad shows with our friend Nas on Fridays...We were actually watching old URWL at a few points and just looking at where the league has come since then, and after seeing this show, I'm both pleased yet terrified that you're stepping up your game on the match quality if Scorpion/SBP was anything to go by. Of course I'm gonna love seeing anyone incorporate clean edits and custom spots with amazing commentary, but a rapid pace of improvement like that would almost make me want to stop doing CAW leagues because URWL is literally this close to being flawless. Makes me wonder if there's anything you can't do, Goldie!
I will say this though, the only nitpick I had on the whole show came with the post-match attack from !ntero. And that's nothing about the motivation or the reason behind the actual attack - I just feel like part of it was overkill and would have benefited from a simpler attack. Chair spot with the neck, table spot, and the powerbomb off the apron seem a bit much - he's already dead from at least one of those three depending on how you sell it. I also feel like you take me out of the whole post-match assault element if the guy is doing actual wrestling moves instead of mostly strikes/stiff stuff that looks like it hurts. I'd want to feel like an impromptu match started and I wasn't aware a bell rang. That and...beatdowns really don't have a lot of flashy wrestling moves unless they hurt/they're finishing moves.
Also, even though I thought it was fair and fine that the Roughness Rankings filled up a lot of time after the Scorpion/SBP match, part of me just can't help but feel like that really could have been its own video away from the show. It kinda just went on as far as the actual show goes, but I minded it less in this case because it did serve a purpose educating/reminding viewers new and old about the relevant events/pasts of the characters in the league, which was greatly appreciated. On its own, a very interesting view on the URWL itself, but I'm just not sure it was needed in full like it was on the show. That's only a minor gripe more than anything else, as the concept itself is very interesting and not many leagues (if anyone) implements that concept.
Still a great show that was worthwhile. Glad to see URWL back in 2015.
Can't wait for the next installment in 2025. Kappa

This show really sets the standards when it comes to CAW Wrestling. The matches and presentation are all top notch. Especially when it comes to commentating. You are one of the top voices of CAW when it comes to announcing matches.

My name is DaDrainPipe and I have decided to review URWL Roughness Episode 1 that aired on the Rantboard NetWork
URWL Roughness took place Saturday Night June 13th 2015 on the Rantboard NetWork streamed on both the network, hitbox and was uploaded on Youtube shortly after the live verison ended on the Rantboard Network's youtube account. I'm not gonna waste time let's get right into reviewing the show
Match 1 New URWL Signee "White Tiger" Matt Thompson vs Brent Steel. This match the very first match on Roughness and I felt this match was a good match nothing too special. It did it's job Thompson looked good in this match and Brent Steel did good in making Thompson look good. Thompson got a little bit of color which surprised me to be honest but moving on from that Thompson won the match with his "Bengal Lock" I think Goldash called it if I got it wrong please let me know but still good match no real complaints (***)
URWL Champion Jamie Emo was interviewed after the Thompson vs Steel Match. Emo cut a really good promo hyping the main event and then when asked about Goldash publically stating he wants Emo to screw Stern over at URWL Live Episode 2 whenever that takes place. That's where this became a semi great promo to me where he pretty much saying "I'll do what's best for me, Not for the URWL"
Match 2 "The New Black Elite" Shane B Perkins vs "The Rust Belt Hero" Scorpion. The featured match of the first episode of Roughness and i'll be honest this match was the worst match of the show. Not by fault of the competitors in the match it's self I just was not much of a fan of this match. As did the first match this match did it's job as Scorpion puts over SBP and SBP debuts "The Terminal Clutch" which I like that to add more heat to the feud with Barry White. Personally I hope this leads to a submission match at Dangerous Minds "The Termina Clutch" vs "The Love Clutch" that's what I hope it leads to in my opinion (**1/2)
The Roughness Rankings went as I kind of thought it would personally I would eliminate Akina from the rankings in general just until he comes back from his broken leg and of course vacate the URWL Hardcore Title again just my opinion but the Roughness Rankings I feel the rankings were exactly what they should be.
Main Event URWL Champion Jamie Emo and Fusion vs Interogative and Salvatore. Main Event time and this match was a great match simple as that at the beginning of the match when Salvatore wanted to start the match I had a feeling that something was going to happen during or after the match. But before we get to that noteable side note of this match one half of the RPW Tag Team Champions Andrew Drasen makes an appearance obviously watching Fusion more then Emo due to what happened in RPW. At RPW Ground Zero there was a interpromotional match between Fusion and Taylor Garstecki and Garstecki got hurt in the match after Fusion hit the Fusion Focus which Fusion used to pick up the victory. Regardless of that great match and Fusion got the pin which was the right move to help him get momentum for Stern vs Fusion at URWL Live Episode 2 which should be a great match (****)
Post Match though the monster is back Intero just beat the living shit out of Salvatore I mean hitting him with chairs, A Future Shock on the Steel Chair, T-Bone Suplex through an announce table. Intero I mean he just went full on fe fi fo fum I'm going to fuck you up on Salavatore. My only nit pick about this whole beat down which is a minor thing is that Intero should of made Salvatore bleed which is my only nit-pick about the whole thing. Still it was a awesome beatdown and then Intero powerbombs Salvatore off the stage and the show ends with Intero being placed in handcuffs and that's how the show went off the air.
Overall the URWL Roughness debut episode was a very good show and whenever URWL Live Episode 2 pops up that should be a good show too so i'll give URWL Roughness Episode 1 a 4/5 in my opinion

Review thread merged into the Spoiler/Discussion thread.
Thanks for the insight, Josh, Barney and Drain (no, I wasn't ignoring but have been busy IRL).
I'm not 100% sure what my plans are match-capturing-wise but I'm going to try a few new things for LIVE #2. I don't pay a lot of attention to specific methods of how matches should be simulated so I'm a bit of an outsider to certain methods other leagues use, in spite of watching many shows in that discipline. That being said, the show has always been about creating the overall environment/"universe".
Mostly, these debut episodes (both of LIVE and Roughness) are more about getting all the graphics/presentation off the ground first. More than likely it will take a shorter amount of time to produce newer episodes since most of the "core" graphic templates have been built. Future LIVE/Roughness shows, then, will likely focus on aspects like match psychology/presentation, promos and angle development since the presentation base is already there.
I appreciate all that was said and I'll do my best to keep moving forward in future shows.
