I was thinking this draft wouldn't be as full of surprises as it was (like last year's unspectacular draft) but it went pretty smoothly with many upper-midcard and main-event talent making the move. I personally wanted Batista to come back to Raw (and he'll definitely be getting more exposure as a result) but Trips and Jeff Hardy moving to SmackDown were two big surprises IMO (if you remember, 2003's draft ended in Hunter complaining that he'd been moved to SD).
CM Punk, finally, looks to finally be pushed on Raw and possibly take Jeff Hardy's role in the upper-midcard. Kennedy, on the other hand, moves to SmackDown where he may just sit in limbo until he gets pushed into the main event (which will be......).
On the other hand, Matt Hardy moving to ECW and the commentator "exchange" between Raw and Smackdown were lowlights of the night. In my honest opinion, Jim Ross was the voice of Raw...now, it seems we're going back to 1998 with Cole doing Raw's commentary...I could literally hear ratings plummet when they made that announcement. However, JR and Foley may have the potential to be a great pairing since Foley's a great color man IMO (especially judging by his performance at One Night Stand back in 2005) and both men have great respect for one another. Pity I won't be watching Smackdown anytime soon, though...
And now, the soon-to-be infamous sequel to the Vince McMahon death angle, the "set malfunction"...I admit, I was surprised at first when the lighting rig fell, almost as if it were unintentional. But on the other hand, when everything else started going wrong (especially the Million Dollar Mania video screen on stage left falling down) I suddenly received an unwanted reminder (as should everyone) of last year's death angle. I give some credit to the WWE production crew for their handling of this "incident" (going on past 11:05, not showing the copyright warning at the end of the show, leaving in discussions between EMTs and McMahon) but from a writing aspect, I seriously don't know what they were thinking here. Pretty soon, we'll end up right where we left off in the "death angle"...the only exception being Vince isn't dead this time, just "seriously injured".
Well, here we go again...

sorry about posting the other topic goldash, musta happened at the same time cause I didnt see your topic when I posted mine or I wouldnt have posted it. as for the draft, alot of surprises. same that JR moved from RAW I didnt like that . I was pissed that Kennedy got drafted back to smackdown, he was given a semi-push on RAW but now he'll sit in Stais on smackdown, I was also Pissed that Hunter got drafted which means all the glorius smackdown talent (kenedy being one) will be moved for an Edge HHH feud, lame I am sick of those! I kind wish Kofi had moved to RAW i think he'd do well there. The Mcmahon thing was surprising, it wasn't as obvious as the car bomb. which was nice. if the Money thing hadn't of dropped and caused the irony of it. I woulda thought it was real. My heart nearly stopped when the light fell, call me a mark, but it did. One positive though, I laughed the entire night at the 'Adamle Roast' as i've dubbed it i dunno if they really mean it, but it was funny. Oh I'm starting to rant... i'll shut up now.

Goldash i agree with you I really didn't like the move between Jim Ross and Michael Cole . However since Smackdown won the tri-brand battle royal. has had more PPV main events than RAW ,and is now the home of the GAME AND the Undertaker once he returns Smackdown may now be the WWE's new 'flagship' or atleast they Rank right up there with RAW now. I'm also glad they moves CM Punk and Rey Mysterio to Raw. I hope these two end up feuding somewhere down the line. Now you can officially start wondering 'When is Punk going to cash in Money in the Bank?' I think it'd be cool if he cashes in right after HHH and Cena's main event match at Night of Champions. The Mcmahon incident like digidude I was like 'Holy Shit' when the first light truss fell. But after the pyro went off and the stage collapsed I knew it was planned i even predicted the video board was going to fall. I wonder who tried to 'kill' Vince this time? Even so I still don't think I'm going to waste my birthday money on NOC when there is always the chance of getting Photoshop along with Sony Vegas and the capture device anywho to rate the draft I'd say fairly unpredictable although you knew Batista was going to RAW as soon as he came out. I also didn't care to much for Matt going to ECW. But hell ECW got sapped of almost all their talent. I declare ECW on SciFi dead at 11:05 eastern standard time on June 23rd. They have NO champion Punk is gone and they pretty much got their asses kicked all night long.

ECW is not neccesarily dead, it's just going to need an influx of young talent ready to move higher up the card. I see ECW as the place for young talent to really show off, thats the place for cool in the ring stuff. Stuff the angles and storylines, lets get Kofi Kingston and Matt Sydal higher up the card on ECW. They've also got Matt Hardy over there now, who in theory could find his main event spot on ECW, cement himself, become ECW champion at some point? (It will make it's way back over to ECW soon).
CM Punk HAD to move from ECW, he had nothing left to do there. At least on RAW they can hover him around the title for a bit, get him some rep, then I see some succesful and superb matches with the likes of Y2J and HBK.
Overall, apart from the very strange commentator changes which are pointless in my view, this draft could throw up some interesting things to say the least, it'll be a different WWE set of feuds for awhile at least.

I kind of think that WWE has lost it as it seems to be more about out of ring stuff, and they continually struggle to balance the roster. Something I think that has happened since the brand split in 2001 or 2002. The shows never appeared to be equal, I know it's a matter of opinion but the reshuffling WWE has done so far in drafts might really have been better done at random than planned moves. CM Punk going to RAW sounds like a good thing that could push him to main event status, ECW was and is the lesser brand. For me in the reincarnation of it there hasn't been a genuine main event ECW Champion since RVD, which is a shame that WWE seems to have destroyed the cult status ECW had.
I agree with Goldash JR is the voice of RAW and IMO he and King work really well together. I don't really watch wrestling anymore so can somebody tell me if Adamle still has a job there?

Adamle is still ECW play by play...although even his fellow announcers rip into him now, poitn of reference, parts of RAW this past week. they had to be careful not to laugh. Tazz especially kept asking him questions...he was stumped.

Ok, Draft talk. This should be spicy as me and my friend have discussed this rather fully. Here are some of my thoughts and ideas.
RAW
Rey Mysterio - He needed a change of scenery pretty bad, he's done just about everything he needed to do on Smackdown. The only losers are the Latino fans. Hey, no more jobbing to Khali and other guys weighing double he does, so YEAH!!
CM Punk - Boy did he need to be off ECW so that he can get the push he deserves. Now, the question is will the WWE actually do it? They have been doing the classic start-stop pushes with Punk like they did with Matt Hardy and many others before them. I still think Punk will be the first person to fuck up cashing in the Money In The Bank.
Michael Cole - It's new. I don't mind it. I fully understand that they did it to give Smackdown a "must watch" feel since it's going to My9 and no one watches that. He'll do fine here.
Batista - He beat everyone's ass on Smackdown. He needed to move. Now they can finally book Cena vs. Batista. Am I pumped for that match? Fuck no! But does it have to happen? Fuck yes. It's what the little kids and young women want to see. It's their modern day Austin vs. The Rock. Oh, he's soooooo not going to beat Edge this Sunday. If he does, I boycott.
Kane - With RAW and ECW taping on the same day it makes sense but didn't need to happen. I don't understand why they take this particular champ off a show no one watches anyway. Wasn't Kane on RAW like last year?
Jamie Noble - Why? Just why? Need more jobbers for Snitzky?
Deuce - Failed push straight ahead.
Chuck Palumbo - In my opinion he's a future IC champ. If booked right, of course.
Striker - Don't care. They won't do much with him anyway. They booked him so bad no one will care what he does.
Layla - Sexy as hell. Hottest girl since Krystal left. Um, she'll be jobbing soon enough.
Kofi Kingston - My Jamaican brethren. He'll be pushed as the Black RVD. I see big things with him. The only thing holding him back is if the WWE still thinks "Bigger is Better."
Smackdown
Jeff Hardy - They don't trust him to put him where he left off. He'll have to build himself back up to the point where they are comfortable thinking of putting the belt on him. Working with Edge, HHH and MVP will be good for him.
Jim Ross - Smackdown will need help getting ratings on a new channel. JR will bring prestige. He and Mick Foley will gel just nicely.
YouuuuManga - He needed a change as the WWE wouldn't give him a main event win. He's destroyed everyone only to lose when it mattered. He's been having good matches after good matches and has been showing up big at PPV's. I think he could have had a run as Champ had they not separated him and Armando Estrada. Oh well. Hopefully he'll get what I feel he deserves and that is a championship run.
Mrrrrr. Kennedy - No clue why. But it comes around full circle since technically Edge is carrying around Mr. Kennedy's World Heavyweight Championship since he did steal the Money In the Back from him. So it's a bit poetic that it works out that way..............Kennedy!!
Triple H - Same as JR. Smackdown needs help and HHH will be closer to his wife. As much as this pains me to say this I see.....(sigh)......John Cena being WWE champion again. I just really don't want Edge losing to Batista. With HHH title-less he can be used to elevate more talent. With it the belt on his waist, he'll just bury them all.
Trevor Murdoch - ............do I care? Will anyone else?
Big Daddy V - Just what I wanted to see, big sagging man-breast.
DH Smith - He was NOT going to get a push on RAW. Smackdown is good for development although he seems better suited for ECW. I see him being sent back to FCW.
Brian Kendrick - No more Londrick? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Why Vince Why!?!? Please don't feed him to Khali! This is a typical stupid tag team break that doesn't need to happen. Anyone remember Reverend Devon? I rest my case.
Maria - Ok. She's hot. But can she wrestle? No.
Shelton Benjamin - This guy needs a fucking push. I know what you're thinking, he's had several already. You're right, but with this much talent he can't afford not to make it. What's holding him back? Other then mic work, I can't explain it myself. I just hope he get what he deserves.
Carlito - Funny how he's moved and HHH is moved to the same place. After his candid comments about HHH, Carlito will get a Pedigree soon enough. This dude needs to stop whining and start wrestling. He has the talent and the mic skills. If he puts his heart on the line instead of waiting for the WWE to give him what he wants maybe when there is an opening they will see he's self motivated and give him what he wants.
ECW
Matt Hardy - WTF!? Why would you do something stupid like that? Matt needs exposure; not taking on a mentor role. Why do this now? Ugh! Anyway, they probably did this to make up for a certain somebody offing himself following a similar move. Lets hope Matt amounts to something and makes ECW, (snickers), watchable.
Mark Henry - He needs to lose weight. He can surely be ECW Champ but it's unlikely. He'll get cheap wins and show off his strength. Nothing more.
Hornswoggle and Finlay - I don't care about the midget. Finlay however will be missed on Smackdown. He's taking on the same role as Matt Hardy.
Super Crazy - This should have been done since day one. No excuses. He'll do nothing special but at least he's on the right show and not jobbing to Snitzky.
So there you go. That is the Draft as I see it.

Is it just me, or did the Vince McMahon stage collapse seem a bit too Rube Goldberg-ish? It kinda felt like the board game Mouse Trap when I saw it.
