There is a long-term storyline for The Undertaker's return to be part of a key angle with Edge, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. There doesn't appear to be an exact time frame for Undertaker's return, but it isn't supposed to be a lengthy sabbatical.
The Undertaker leaving was something kept from the creative team until the addition of the PPV stipulation was announced for his match with Edge at One Night Stand. Vince McMahon himself didn't want to do an injury angle to avoid giving the perception that the dead man is breaking down.
