On the first episode of the Rantboard Network's Rantcast, former #1 Contender Seth Stern voiced his opinion on the Rantboard Network, the "RBN Invasion" angle in SWF and the actions of Cory Jones. While his opinions were certainly controversial, their impact can still be heard around the world of virtual wrestling.
We here at the Rantboard Network decided to gauge reactions from other URWL wrestlers to see their thoughts on what has transpired in the last few months as the SWF and RBN get set to collide in a massive elimination tag team main event at Dark Horizon.
On the Rantboard Network Affiliation
URWL Champion Jaime Emo: "It's a good thing for wrestling. In these organizations, everyone works hard and loves what they do. I can't say enough about how this is going to strengthen our leagues inside and outside the ring. All this stuff going on in SWF, I mean, that's probably growing pains, every affiliation will have to go through their rough patches, but once it all gets going I'm sure this is gonna be good for wrestling."
Tag Team Champion Shaun McAndrew (GWN): "Opens up the floodgates, but in a positive way. I've already got to meet some people from the other leagues and it's turned out well so far. No complaints, and like I said, I think this is going to work."
Kelsey McDonald: "I welcome the rest of the affiliates with open arms. This is a huge opportunity for all of us to do what we can as wrestlers to prove that we are damn good, regardless of our gender."
Salvatore: "We shouldn't be wasting our time. Everyone can see that the URWL is better than this. Remember the last time we tried to cooperate with other leagues? Yeah, my point exactly --- I had to save it from falling under new ownership. They should be treating me like a savior for what I did in 2002. Instead, what do they do? They do the same thing they did back then. I did it once, I ain't gonna do it again."
Jonas Karlsson: "Love the idea, just don't know how it's gonna work out. Look, all that stuff in SWF was caused by two attention seeking wrestlers and a defensive general manager. How am I supposed to think this won't happen in the URWL or on any other shows? I don't know, man. I guess I like the possibility but reality's settling in fast."
Victor Cordaro: "Yeah, don't care. More asses will be kicked. Just get me in the ring with any maricón in WWR, SWF or VWA. Any time, any show."
On Dark Horizon's Main Event
Internet Champion Barry White: "I've been in big matches like this many times before. I know what it's like. You get those butterflies goin' and everything's possible. All six guys are going to have the time of their lives out there, givin' the fans all they want. If you don't like that feeling...you're probably in the wrong profession, baby."
Spectre: "You have to realize...the SWF will be fighting for the reputation of their company. Alex Knight and Mike Kizzar are certainly worthy of that distinction. Regardless of who their partner's going to be, I'm sure those guys are going to use 200% of their effort in front of their home fans. They have a lot to fight for. Cory Jones, KENZO and the WWR's rep are going to have their work cut out for them."
!nterogative: "If the RBN loses, it's because they relied on the small and insignificant Cory Jones. I wrote the book on hostile takeovers long before Cory Jones found his footing. He, like Jaime Emo, is a fly by night flavor of the week. If selected, I would have guaranteed the systematic destruction of Team SWF. The URWL will reap what it has sewn..."
Women's Champion Cecilia Rincón: "This match is a big deal. Six of the best around. I'll be watching every moment. Jackie Blue, love her or hate her, knows what she's doing. The real winners are the fans."
Nev Auger: "Anyone else find it strange that both RBN reps so far are hated men, while both SWF reps are heroes in their promotion? This match isn't gonna be about this 'mutual respect', and was never gonna be that way. It's a bloody trap! Jackie's a master manipulator...otherwise, like Goldash said, guys who actually fight for respect and not an agenda would be out there on the front lines. Instead, they're sitting at home being interviewed for their thoughts. Totally ridiculous."
Shane B. Perkins: "I don't care who you are --- if you're the CEO or a production asssistant and you're rooting against your own company, you're outta your mind. Cory, I'm proud of you. Do work!"
Fusion: "Jones has done all he can to make an enemy out of the URWL. I assure the Rantboard Network and the Southwestern Wrestling Federation that this psychopathic idiot does not represent us. Cory, a long title reign and a new attitude doesn't mean you're above the rules of this business. I wish luck to both teams, but I hope you leave Dark Horizon on a stretcher so that the RBN can move on as intended."
On Cory Jones and His Actions in SWF
Darius Gash: "I used to look up to Cory. He meant so much to guys like me who're just starting out. You ever hear those stories, though, about the guys you see on TV and how they really act when the camera's off? That's Cory Jones. What he did in the SWF? That's just another day at the office."
Blood: "Only thing I can say is that I should've come up with that idea sooner."
Scorpion: "I don't know who this man is. I'll tell you one thing: he's definitely not my brother --- the man I trained, shared everything I learned with and broke into this business. No...this man's a cowardly sycophant. Our family has not been the same since he shut us out and moved away. I'm all for reinvention, Cory, but remember where you came from. You may have won the fight, but you will never win the war. Not against me, not against the SWF, not against the fans...and certainly not against the types of wrestling they want to see."
Rally Star: "Corey Johnson is a thing? Since when? All I can hear is the love, tears, admiration for my win at Road to Rebirth. No one's looking forward to Dark Horizon, they're looking forward to the next time Rally Star hits their LED, LCD or plasma screen. Juan Carlos...time for some tips on personal grooming. Commander...your flag's flying half-mast. Ladies...all aboard the Rally Starship!"
"Russian" Champion Aleksandar Kuleshov (through an interpreter): "In an industry of fake names and fake lives, I'm proud that there's someone willing to fight for legitimacy."
URWL Champion Jaime Emo: "You may not like what he says and who he is, because, yeah, he's done awful things. People get so wrapped up in his one-man invasion that they forget that he's one of the best workers today. I respect his effort in the squared circle, where it matters. Everything else, to me, is background noise."
