[ORCHARD PARK, NY]: After a controversial "hijacking" of RBN Network Affiliates the Southwestern Wrestling Federation, it appears that Cory Jones, once a marked man in the virtual wrestling world, has finally been silenced.
Jones, who threatened the SWF after feeling they "stole" the High Stakes name from his employees the URWL, seemed like he was defending his company. Instead, his controversial tweets and actions made it clear he was only looking to promote himself and his mantra of "Legitimate Wrestling". After the initial confusion, public statements from the URWL's Goldash confirmed that Jones acted alone, leaving the attention-seeking "Leader of Legitimate Wrestling" as a one-man revolution against the Rantboard Network.
SWF General Manager Jackie Blue's open challenge to any RBN-affiliated wrestler only made matters worse. In response to this, Jones, along with previously featured VWA wrestler KENZO and the WWR's Jason Brigade, entered into the SWF High Stakes match. While each wrestler had very impressive showings, it was ultimately all for naught as none ultimately captured the #1 Contendership at SWF Mind Games VIII.
The results of Jones's High Stakes appearance, however, may finally have put him in his place. His memorable elimination at the hands of SWF Hardcore Champion Devlin Hunter may have been one of the biggest moments of the night. The vehemently anti-hardcore Jones, after injuring Akina and defeating older brother Scorpion in subsequent events, seemed to be as dangerous inside the ring as he was in the media. Therefore, it's possible that the normally outspoken Jones has been embarrassed and that he may be thinking twice about speaking out against hardcore wrestling and the SWF.
Since his SWF High Stakes elimination loss, the majority of Jones's tweets have been nonsensically cryptic. Is this a sign of defeat, surrender or something else? Whatever the case, Jones's one-man revolution just may have run out.
