Here are the top stories surrounding Digital Mayhem 2008:
Jaime Emo: Two Chances, Two Titles, One Night
Jaime Emo will try to win back the URWL Internet Title from Salvatore and claim the URWL Championship from !nterogative at Digital Mayhem. Emo is confident but still claims he has a long way to go to defeat the men who have terrorized him since Discontent. "At this point, there is no tomorrow. It's either win or go home in a cardboard box," Emo claims. "!nterogative, you have never been a legitimate competitor. Your fame comes from injuring the best this league has to offer. You didn't physically injure me at Discontent, but you injured my pride. My will. My determination. I took your stupid 'my #1 contender' proposal and shoved it in your face in Episode 6. Sending Cordaro out symbolized your ignorance. You thought, because my will was broken, that Cordaro would stomp me into the mat. Well, !ntero...you thought wrong. That night, I showed the world I still had what it took. And when you came out to 'stop the madness', you saw, first hand, what I am truly capable of. Now, I have a chance to end your undefeated streak and return the URWL Championship to prominence." However, Emo didn't have much to say to Salvatore, the legendary URWL heel that officially ended his chance to win the URWL Championship at Discontent. "Salvatore...you haven't earned your title. You haven't earned a thing since your YouTube Era debut. I'm warning you, Salv...be ready to expect the unexpected when I meet you face to face at Digital Mayhem." As always, Salvatore and !nterogative were not available for comment.
The Grand Finale of the Hardkore Title Tournament
Scorpion and Akina met in the second match of the URWL Hardkore Title Tournament quarterfinals at Discontent. Now, in an unthinkable finale, both men will meet for the third time in a URWL ring at URWL Digital Mayhem 2008. Scorpion, who forced himself back into the tournament and took out Merle Haggard Jr. after unsuccessfully earning the vacant slot in the tournament left by Seth Stern, is out to prove his worth as a hardcore wrestler. After defeating Taurus, who eventually replaced Stern in the tournament, Scorpion has a chance to turn his career around. Akina, however, has dominated the competition since debuting in the URWL. His undefeated streak is matched only by his aggressive, passionate wrestling style. Now, Akina has a chance to win his first URWL title belt, the URWL Hardkore Title, in a match that will ultimately prove his worth. This match, however, isn't merely Hardcore Rules. It will be a Freestyle Hardcore Match. There are no rules or referee intervention. There are no limits on the weapons a wrestler can use. The ring, ropes and referee will be outfitted with flame-resistant gear. Brutality is a must. Scorpion and Akina, at Digital Mayhem 2008, will undoubtedly risk their careers for the vacant Hardkore Title, and may turn many heads in the process.
Red-Hot Great White North Look To End The "Revolution"
The nihilistic Downfall Syndicate just may have met their match in the form of two twentysomethings from Toronto. Kyle Stafford and Shaun McAndrew have turned many heads in their short time in the URWL, and their instant success in the Tag Team Division may be cemented if they win the URWL Tag Team Titles from the undefeated (in tag-team competition) Syndicate in a Tag Team Ladder Match. The Great White North have proved they are serious tag team competitors in the past few episodes and are aiming to end The Downfall Syndicate's "revolution" at Digital Mayhem.
CobrA and Taurus Collide for HighFlyer Division Supremacy
The URWL HighFlyer Title has been CobrA's since Episode 2 of the URWL on YouTube. However, CobrA's days as champion may be numbered after taking Taurus out and helping his brother Scorpion advance to the finals of the URWL Hardkore Title Tournament. Both wrestlers will square off at Digital Mayhem after CobrA arrogantly accepted the match proposal, calling Taurus an "overrated Mexican newbie" and criticizing Taurus's knowledge of the English language. Will Taurus answer back in the ring or will CobrA remain undefeated and back up his cockiness?
The Blood Invitational Continues
Blood, URWL North American Champion, has come close to defeat in the past few weeks. However, he has come away with victories in every one of his matches, keeping the Blood Invitational alive. Now, at Digital Mayhem's grand stage, Blood needs to keep his focus. Anyone from the URWL locker room can gain an opportunity to end Blood's winning streak, end the Blood Invitational and win the URWL North American Championship. However, the stingy Blood isn't one to crumble in the face of adversity...
Jesse Slash and Kelsey MacDonald to Square Off
"The Cyberpunk" Jesse Slash has fought and defeated every wrestler in the URWL Womens' Division. However, Kelsey MacDonald is on a roll, winning the #1 Contender's Match in Episode 6 with relative ease over Hikari Nakamura and Cecilia Rincon. Now, Kelsey must last thirty minutes in the ring against Slash in order to turn her career around...
Retirement In Tail or Tanao's Future
No one likes the idea of early retirement. In the wrestling industry, earning your retirement is meant to be a career-long process. However, in retirement matches, it's do or die. You either have nothing to lose or nothing. Busiwa Tanao and Trent Tail, the only winless wrestlers on the active URWL roster, are feeling enormous amounts of pressure heading into Digital Mayhem. Both men know they have to expend all of their effort in order to win. Tail's last match was far from embarrassing (a close loss to Blood in the first match of the Blood Invitational). However, Busiwa Tanao's career in the YouTube era has been exactly that; an embarrassment. Both men are looking for a big win at Mayhem...losing will only bring humiliation.
