Introducing RBN: Rantboard Network

Over the nearly six years I've been involved in CAW, many communities rose and fell. Many great ideas went to waste at the expense of infighting and creative differences. Most of all, and this is something I've been guilty of --- many promises were left unfulfilled.

Corny is it may sound, there is no "community" without "unity". The Rantboard has been one of the more considerate ones out there, with few major issues since its opening in June 2006. Now, the Rantboard aims to carry its philosophy of respect, creativity and integrity to the landscape of CAW itself.

As of today, the URWL Rantboard is no more. It is no longer solely the home of the URWL but the home of the VWA and our new affiliates the WWR. By expanding this board to include more of a community focus, we hope the Rantboard can become a hub for CAW on the Internet.

The Rantboard Network is a network in many different ways. Not only is it an affiliation between three stylistically similar CAW leagues, but it will also be a network in the broadcast and social venues.

This isn't the same story you've heard from other communities.
There will not be an open signup involved, nor will there be "featured" leagues as on other community forums. Potential RBN affiliates will be approached by myself, Rated and Devil if they match the criteria we're looking for.

Without saying much, we don't want the Rantboard Network to change the community. We want it to BE the change in the community. This means no politics, no grudges, no immaturity. Professionalism and courteous behavior are seldom seen online and among certain sects of the CAW community at large. We want to make a difference by treating people respectfully.

That means precious little without content.
RBN, as said before, will not only expand our community emphasis on this forum but on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. The Rantboard Network will have its own YouTube channel dedicated to producing content that not only promotes its own members but CAW, professional wrestling and wrestling video gaming itself. It will not only be affiliate oriented but community oriented.
Before you ask, this will not mean every URWL, VWA or WWR event will be going on this account. It will, however, serve as a place to see future interpromotional events. Long story short, it will be a "CAW Sports Network", taking an idea I originally saw used at Revolution Studios back in my e-fedding days and applying it to the predominantly visual culture of CAW.

Our Facebook and Twitter pages will follow a similar mode, promoting not only the big events happening within the URWL, VWA and WWR but throughout the community as well. Myself, Rated and Devil will be administering both accounts and will assure they remain active enough as a "hub", while still retaining our individual presences on social networking.

What does this mean for the Rantboard CAW Community?
If anything, this means the CAW Community forum, by far our most active forum, will be pushed closer to the forefront than ever before. The long-time regulars of this board, Rated and Devil included, made their start talking about CAW on that forum and eventually progressed into starting up leagues of their own. Active or otherwise, the Rantboard CAW Community is one of the reasons why the URWL name will be de-emphasized for a larger Community-based approach.

We hope the CAW Community board continues to grow and develop under the RBN name.

You've spoken about change before but haven't followed up. What makes RBN so different?
By opening up this affiliation to WWR and to the other leagues we'll shortly approach, we hope to grow this community into something beyond what the URWL Rantboard offered. Through the input of many, we hope to do more than what one league previously could not. We hope to try new things with the YouTube network and expand outward into new avenues of creative expression.
And as I said before, we hope to emphasize the importance of integrity.

The URWL and the Rantboard CAW Community changed the way many looked at CAW. With the Rantboard Network, we hope to do that on a larger scale.

Devil and Rated, I'll open it up to you guys now if you feel like responding. But now that my mission statement's out of the way, I'm going to go back to what I should've been working on a long time ago --- URWL HighStakes.

I discovered the URWL and CAW in general close to six years ago now.  When I first watched URWL Asphyxiation 2007, I was blown away by how realistic the whole production was and instantly I fell in love with CAW.  A month later I joined the Rantboard and started interacting with Goldash and the rest of the community.  In fact I still remember my first post on here, it was in the old suggestions thread I suggested that Goldash try to create a URWL magazine, and from there things took off.  As I started interacting with all the awesome users here on the Rantboard, and the more I watched the URWL and CAW in general, I realized that I didn’t just want to be spectator in the CAW “universe”, I wanted  to become a producer. Fast forward a year and half later, and after a lot of frustration the WWR was born.

Since then the WWR has produced five and half events (not including the corrupted and lost parts of Collision Episode 2), and I have learned and improved immensely.  A lot of that improvement has been thanks to the help of you guys here on the Rantboard.  To Rated and Goldash specifically, I want to thank you guys for being there for me and the WWR from the start. Without both of you none of this would have been possible.

Alright that’s enough reminiscing of days gone by, now it’s time to focus on the future, more specifically the future of CAW.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Rantboard Network, a literal “CAW Sports Network”, as Goldash so eloquently put it, a network that will seek to promote not only those leagues that possess a similar philosophy to the URWL, VWA, and WWR, but also other CAW leagues active here. We

want the RBN to become a community for CAW. We want it to be a place for mature discussion of CAW, wrestling video games, and professional wrestling itself. We want the RBN to serve as a platform to promote and cultivate original CAW leagues, a place where prospective producers can come ask questions and receive guidance to help them get started on their own leagues.  In short, we want the RBN to help ensure that CAW never dies out.

We realize that our leagues haven’t been the most “active” out there, but I can personally promise you that you will be seeing a lot of content from the WWR in a short period of time. In fact, in a matter of days (if not hours) the WWR will present the first event on the Rantboard Network, as Revival will finally take to the air after 6 months of waiting.  And while Revival is still waiting for its final touches, production for the WWR’s new flagship program Octane has already begun on WWE 13. In the meantime I hope to upload some one-off “House Show” matches on both the Rantboard Network’s channel and the main WWR channel. 

One of the main reasons I joined the Network was for the added motivation and creative input I knew I could gain.  At the same time I want to offer the same things to all of you out there, I’ll be more than happy to offer any help I can to you guys, and I’ll try my hardest to ensure the WWR acts as motivation for other owners.  I want nothing more out of the Network than to keep having fun producing and improving the WWR while also enjoying all the great new leagues that are being started up. 

So once again, welcome to the Rantboard Network, a community for CAW. I hope you all enjoy this new concept, the great content it enables, and most importantly remember that the goal of this community is to help promote and preserve CAW in general.

Back in 2006, the URWL orientated me into Original CAW Wrestling when I was just 14 years of age. I grew the interest of making a CAW league of my own, and the Virtual Wrestling Association was born. Throughout the years I developed my style which may now be seen as a modern take at professional wrestling from its Golden Era merged with the athleticism and commitment to the sport Puroresu is well known for. Many promises were left to fulfill which goes from Supercards and eMatches to other related media, and I feel embarrassed with that.

However, the 12.21.12 promo wasn't in vain, and I'll make it public right now. The promo was related to a Main Event between Danny Hawkins and Juan Carlos Gutierrez that will take place at a future VWA event, for the VWA Internet Championship. Further details about this event will be revealed in the near future. Stay tuned for that.

The league had its ups and downs but there was two guys who always were there for me, Goldash and Devil. If it wasn't for them and most of you, I wouldn't be here today. You guys always gave me so much and I constantly failed to give it back to you. I do plan on moving forward, though.

It was an honor for me to be associated with the Unnecessary Roughness Wrestling League last year and it is my pleasure to be on the front line of this new project that is the Rantboard Network. I may be known for the wrong reasons if you relate me to OCS, but this is a whole new level of a community.

We migrated the exact same philosophy the URWL Rantboard had of integrity and respect, stepping away from all the drama and bullshit we've been seeing in CAW for the past 3 to 4 years. There's people who take CAW seriously to an extent, and there's people who take CAW personally. We are all here because we enjoy what we do, we are all equals. No one is better than anyone else.
