Discuss football here. Which teams do you support? How much of a fan of the sport are you?
For me, I support Portugal's SL Benfica, but I love the sport in general.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Arsenal, specially the youth players. Sadly they sold most of their key players like Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, etc.

So, who do you think will win the 2012 edition of UEFA Champions League; Bayern Munich or Chelsea?

What a huge win for Chelsea yesterday. Just when they seemed totally out of it and outplayed by Bayern, Drogba takes control. For better or worse, he singlehandedly made the difference, although I think he got lucky on the penalty Cech stopped.
Apart from my hometown boys Toronto FC, Chelsea are my second favorite squad and I was elated to see them come back and win on penalties. Games like these are why they name football/soccer "The Beautiful Game"...it was every bit as dramatic as I thought it'd be. GREAT match.

Was a boring game, but a good result IMO. Hoping DiMatteo keeps his job, and I loved seeing Robben's face looking liked a smacked arse. Have to say Cech went the right way and touched nearly all the of the penalties and saved two. Nice to see the "English" beat the Germans at penalties, won't happen at the Euro's though.

Wanted to update this thread...EURO 2012 started today with an unpredictable draw between Poland and Greece and a thrashing by the Russians against the Czechs.
Who are your favorites to win? Who will surprise?
Spain and England are down many players which doesn't bode well for them, so I realistically see this as anyone's tourney. I'm going to have to go with the Netherlands --- they have a legit shot to go all the way due to their explosive strikers, so we'll see if it all comes to fruition in the next few weeks. Should be an exciting one. I'll be tuned in from the States on ESPN.

I enjoyed the opening game, surprised the pundits here called it mundane, then again I never really value their opinions on it especially when one predicted the semi-finalists and 3 are from the same group (For those who don't know, only two can go through from the group stage.)
Szczęsny could have made the best gamble ever with that tackle in the area, not sure if it's a straight red. Maybe it is a good thing since I doubt he would have saved the penalty. Overall I think the game was as good as a 1-1 draw could be and I enjoyed it. I wish I watched the whole of Russia vs. Czech Republic as it sounds like it was a thrilling, if one sided game.
As for the winner, I'd have to say Netherlands is a really good shout, I think it could be a repeat of the world cup final, only with a different result. I also think Germany would have a good chance too.
As for England's chances, whilst I think Hodgson really has improved us defensively judging by the 2 friendlies we won in the build up, we really don't have many genuine attacking threats. Questionable squad choices, I'm a Man Utd fan and I honestly agree with Rio Ferdinand not going, but I really don't think that a player who has only played one game for his club at top level and that club having a lackluster season should be going either. I also think Micah Richards and Adam Johnson should have been in the team, he picked Barry (Though the country breathed a sigh of relief when he was injured and ruled out). I think Rooney for all the hype and disappointment owes us a big performance at a tournament.
I doubt England will do well at all, but I'll still cheer them on and pray that they prove me wrong.

Portugal has been overhyped since the qualification stage, and quite frankly, I just hope they land their feet on the ground and realize they have a tournament ahead. The last few friendly matches were awful.
Good performance by the Russians yesterday.
