Thread locked for the moment. If I decide to have a lot of promos during Rebirth (which may very well happen given the huge possibilities of the new Create-a-Story cutscenes), I'll let you all know. Those of you that PM'ed me to sign up for voices will still be considered if I decide to keep the possibility for a Cory or Scorp promo open.
Gary, EFW's owner (EFWwrestling here on the Rantboard) suggested I carry something like this out in another thread and after chatting with him about the matter as well as some brainstorming on my end, I thought this may be the right thing to do to keep the show fresh.
The following, therefore, announces that we will be holding open tryouts for anyone interested in voicing a URWL wrestler in Episode 10.
All you need is a working (preferably high-quality) microphone connected to your computer and the right voice and you may land the role of the "voice behind the face".
Here are the two characters I'd like to "cast" in Episode 10. Whoever's interested in auditioning MUST pick either one or the other. No exceptions will be made. Without further ado:
CORY JONES
In order to play Cory, you must be (or be able to impersonate) a caucasian male between the ages of 19-25 from the Northern United States. I envision Cory as having a very gritty, fast-paced and aggressive tone to his speech, as he has just turned from heel to "heeler" (if you will) and on a mission to redefine himself after breaking free of his brother. If you need a reference to the type of promo to cut, look up CM Punk's old heel ROH promos on YouTube or around the internet. A few from his old angle with Raven are especially awesome and really hit home the aggression I want Cory's promo in Episode 10 to possess.
SCORPION
In order to play Scorpion, you must be (or be able to impersonate) a caucasian male between the ages of 30-35 from the Northern United States. Scorpion's a veteran, someone who doesn't take lightly to criticism. He's seen the worst of wrestling and bears the scars of his past matches. If he were to speak, he'd have a very gruff tone, almost like a smoker would. He's coming off a recent face turn and is beginning to show loyalty toward a fanbase that is beginning to respect his accomplishments in the CAW era. There's still a bit of reluctance there, though, but largely, he's now finding a new niche in the URWL pecking order. If I could find a comparison, I'd say try to watch some old Sandman or Raven promos from around 1995-1996 era ECW...either that or a less over-the-top version of any male character narration in the Robert Rodriguez film "Sin City". As many of you know, he's a brawler that loves to utilize weaponry, which has defined his reputation. If you can bring out his take-no-prisoners mentality, you land the role.
If you want to sign up for an audition, PM me here on the Rantboard with the subject line "CORY JONES" or "SCORPION" and I will send you the final Episode 10 promos I have written for them ASAP. Send me back a WAV or MP3 file of your version of the promo, either through a site like FileFront, Rapidshare, or Megaupload. The Rantboard member who wins the role will not be contacted through a PM - instead, I will reveal my choices of the best promo for Cory and Scorp in Episode 10 itself to preserve the element of surprise for those involved.
DON'T WORRY! Those character descriptions above may be harsh at first, but don't let any of that discourage you. They are only there to give you a feel of the voice I'm looking to give these guys. I will give you enough artistic freedom to do what you want as long as they loosely meet the paragraph bios I wrote about Scorpion and Cory.
Finally, please be advised that I may decide to lower or raise the pitch of your promo or add effects (as I do to my own voice on the show) as I see fit. Just please don't be offended if I do, because I know people get mad over stuff like that and I don't want to start any arguments over someone's voice.
Thank you, and good luck![/color]
