Early Days
In April of 2007, Rated, alongside with "Copperhead" Greg Hanssen, founded a Virtual Wrestling organization which went by the name of Virtual Championship Wrestling (VCW), where names such as Ricky Hitters, Ryan Crowe and Christopher Hughes started their careers at.
In that same year, the academy became a wrestling promotion as they gathered a good amount of young talented athletes. Most events VCW held were non-recorded and non-televised, while very few footage was released to the fans all over the world. All matches were contested under Hardcore rules.
The Hanssen Take Over
In early 2008, Greg Hanssen retired from the squared-circle and became a meaningful part of the organization's internal structure. Hanssen was distinguished as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
With him, change came to the VCW. He rebranded the promotion not only by changing its name to Virtual Wrestling Association (VWA), he also stated that Hardcore wrestling was going to be cut out for an all new, sports-oriented professional wrestling attitude. The VCW still operates as a developmental league for youth talent.
A Necessary Affiliation
The VWA made its first official affiliation with the Unnecessary Roughness Wrestling League (URWL), spearheaded by Goldash and VinceNeil1981. This affiliation opened doors for URWL youth talent to join the VWA and work as a duo on several occasions.
