I've tried for a while to generate some buzz around these forums with user-oriented contests, but this one promises to be something we haven't tried before. Now until December 2nd, get creative and make a custom URWL wrestler "titantron" video to get an opportunity to book the main event of Episode 2 of URWL HighStakes.
This contest, which is pretty open ended, will consist only of previously-released URWL footage and decided through FAN VOTING on the Rantboard between December 2nd and 9th. The winner will be announced in a segment on the first episode of URWL HighStakes which hopefully will land one week or so later.
Please read the following rules carefully:
1. Distribution of these videos will be through private messaging here on the Rantboard, which means you must register.
2. Videos must remain unlisted on YouTube until after the contest ends. No exceptions. This means these videos can exclusively be seen on the Rantboard.
3. Videos have to be in to me via PM on the Rantboard by 12:00 AM on Friday, December 2nd, 2011. This will give me enough time to compile all the entries in a poll.
4. Just like Popular Demand, poll results will only be visible to admins (Vince and myself). Just like in the instructions for the ill-fated "You are URWL" CAW Contest, any attempt to hijack the voting with fake/dummy accounts will immediately be spotted and you will be banned permanently.
5. Parody/silly/meme trons are perfectly OK, even WWE tron parodies are not off limits. You are also free to use sound clips from our shows if necessary. However, if anything crosses the line and is in bad taste, your entry will be immediately rejected. Making fun of the show with malicious intent is prohibited. You can be as goofy as you want, but don't go wild with your goofiness.
6. No length limit, but don't make anything so short that it's barely viewable.
7. As said before, your entry MUST USE previously posted URWL videos, either downloaded off YouTube or from any downloadable URWL show. No exceptions there, either.
8. Theme music edits will be your responsibility, if you choose to use "URWL versions" of themes. I apologize, but it makes my work a lot easier, and I already have a lot on my plate over the next month.
9. If you win the voting, carry yourself maturely. The main event you book will only consist of currently active wrestlers according to the RoughnessRankings. You have full control over winners and losers within reason. Although you have a good amount of control over the inner workings of the match (I will be extremely flexible, even with match pacing ideas or events during a match), I will have final say if I find something doesn't mesh with the way the show's going. Get creative! I'd love to see a booked match change the way I perceive my own characters versus just a standard one-off booking that could easily be the topic of a "DOR2 Dream Match".
10. Just like before, please become a part of the community if you sign up just for this contest. I appreciate our YouTube community, but I want to be sure that you are willing to legitimately stay here and carry on discussions if you enter the contest.
Again, I expect everyone to carry themselves maturely and professionally, or this will turn out to be the final viewer participation contest of this level again. The level of enthusiasm from this contest will determine my own willingness to restart the "You Are URWL" contest before Discontent '12 is posted, so do the right thing.
This has the potential to be a fun thing to do once in a while, and if it works once, it'll likely work again. I'd love to see what you guys come up with.
