ORCHARD PARK, NY: As URWL Unrivaled Ambition prepares to get underway, one man knows he has much to prove when the third season of URWL wrestling finally gets underway. Ironically, that man's the holder of the Platinum Belt, Jaime Emo.
"It's too easy for me to act cautiously as Champion," Emo said after a meeting at URWL HQ. "I have a target on my chest at all times. This title gives as much pressure as respect. Every title defense is important, every match matters. As long as I keep my head in the match, I'll hold this title; there's no question."
With two straight title defenses against Seth Stern to his credit, Emo knows he's been tested. On the other hand, he knows there's still a lot of work to be done. "I worked my ass off every day to get to where I am, no matter what obstacle fate threw in my way. But I'm not one to lay back and relax when there's hardware around my waist. I've struggled for a long time, and this belt is the culmination of all of those struggles, all of those endless years of disappointment. It may sound cliche, but this is indeed my moment. I intend to work harder than ever in Season Three."
At Unrivaled Ambition, however, Jaime's situation may prove to be the most unique of his URWL career. He will face one of a possible four opponents in the main event for his URWL Championship. Seth Stern, Cory Jones, Fusion and Shane B. Perkins could very well be the future of the URWL. One may very well be two wins away from Platinum. However, Jaime Emo isn't one to be overshadowed.
"There's no question that each and every one of these guys could very well be the future of this organization. But I intend to give the winner the match of his career in the main event. Shane's a guy motivated by anger. He's talented, sure...but his attitude gets the best of him. Cory's in a similar circumstance, but he's not as big a star as he thinks he is. Fusion, for all I know, is chomping at the bit. He's ready. Then, there's Seth Stern..."
Emo's expression gradually changed, anger seeping into his eyes as he paused to prepare his thoughts.
"...Seth, it doesn't surprise me that you've forced your way in. Had Rebirth happened, you wouldn't have been booked. Lo and behold, when Unrivaled Ambition's card gets released, whose name comes up? Seth Stern's. Seth, if memory serves me right, you furiously booked your rematch in Episode 9 and failed. Your anger got the best of you. Instead of planning a big supercard-level match, you just had to blame my Popular Demand win on a match stipulation and prove your point in Episode 9 with a no-frills, one-fall-to-a-finish contest. And I think we all remember how that turned out. I'm still the URWL Champion. You're still looking for excuse after excuse as to why you aren't."
Emo paused to drink a bottle of water, then continued.
"I don't know what to say anymore, Seth. I seldom value hatred. But I'm more than willing to make an exception if it means justifying my opinion of you. If you're the #1 Contender I end up facing at the end of the night, expect no cakewalk. This is the professional wrestling business, Seth, and you haven't acted professionally since day one. And even if you happen to win my URWL Championship at Unrivaled Ambition, at the end of the day, you'll only have a belt...because you'll never truly be a champion. I've worked every single day of my career to get to where I am. I've given you the best matches of my life. And what do you do? You complain. You complain until you get your way. And for that reason, you will never truly understand what victory really means."
Regardless of his opponent, Jaime Emo knows he has a tough task ahead of him at Unrivaled Ambition. His words for Seth Stern, however, paint another picture. If these two meet again in the near future, an instant classic may not be far away.
