TOKYO, JPN: Reports out of Japan's largest city this evening points toward the signing of one of Japan's biggest independent stars, twenty-four year old Shingo "Chimera" Matsubara, by United States-based wrestling promotion URWL (Unnecessary Roughness Wrestling League). Although specific dollar amounts were not announced at the time of publication, the deal is rumored to be in the six figure range for around four to five years. Goldash, CEO of the URWL, in reference to his acquisition, stated, "This is a great addition to the URWL's burgeoning HighFlyer Division. Chimera's an extremely talented kid, one of the best I've seen on my scouting tour of Japan, and wrestlers like him are just what we need to continue producing quality wrestling." Matsubara's independent resume includes numerous championship victories, including a notable upset over against former URWL text-based era wrestler (and current URWL opponent) Kudo Shigashi in Japanese independent league Ringu-HERO. He aims to make his debut on the return of URWL HighStakes in the event's opening match, a rumored three-way dance against fellow HighFlyer Division newcomer Darius Gash and Japanese compatriot Dark Dragon. EDIT: Changed his name, but only slightly.

I'd like to see some cocky punk Japanese kicker in the URWL, similar to 90's Koji Kanemoto if any of you watch Japanese wrestling.

NON-KAYFABE, IF YOU DON'T MIND:
Work on Chimera's been tough because he's turning into a Japanese Evan Bourne in my opinion...I want his appearance to be unique from most Asian wrestlers so it's going to be a bit hard to grasp at first. But hopefully I'll tweak him enough by the time he debuts. I really want to give him a good jolt of personality and charisma that makes him stand out from everyone else on the roster.

If you need any help keeping him different from most Japanese wrestlers that come over to America, just let me know. I've been watching Japanese wrestling for years now, ranging from New Japan Pro-Wrestling to little indies.

A very small look at Chimera (from a small trailer I'm putting together to be aired during UA...pardon the image size/quality, this was done right from Premiere):

(non-kayfabe ahead): Nice find in the theme song thread! Was wondering if anyone caught the "spoilers" I put in there...it's a song from the most bizarre movie in all of film history, "Hausu". This isn't the version I was planning on using for Chimera, though...it was the punk cover: I may be thinking of making a pre-debut theme switch because I removed his "rockstar" attire, but he doesn't debut for a while, so there's a lot of time until that.
