ORCHARD PARK, NY: The Unnecessary Roughness Wrestling League announced Wednesday that the league has come to terms with three rookie free agents that plan to make their debuts on the URWL Rebirth undercard this coming winter.
The first wrestler the URWL introduced to the media was 27 year old Darius Gash, an extremely talented high flyer out of Atlanta, Georgia. A former professional skateboarder, Gash has adjusted well to the professional wrestling lifestyle in his three years on the Georgia independent circuit. His agile, free-flowing style and his relentless intensity on the microphone make him one of the most complete entertainers on the independent circuit under the age of thirty.
In a brief statement before the media, Gash outlined his mission in the wrestling industry. "...the URWL took a chance on me and I have to hold up my end of the bargain," Gash proclaimed, "and I promise you, that HighFlyer Division of yours ain't ever gon' be the same when I'm done with it. Y'all who hate, get the fuck outta my way, because I've been a champion all my life. Once you see me in the ring, you'll see what Darius Gash brings to the table. Intensity, passion, and something y'all in the URWL seem to be lacking...talent. Congratulatons URWL, you just landed your most dynamic athlete."
Sure, he may have a big mouth for a rookie, but Gash looks to make a quick impact on the URWL when he debuts on the pre-show for URWL Rebirth.
International talent has always been a key facet of the URWL talent pool and URWL Chairman VinceNeil1981 was pleased to announce another key foreign acquisition. Swedish wrestler Jonas Karlsson will be added to the URWL roster at Rebirth. A superb technician, Karlsson stresses legitimacy over flash in his wrestling style. He should be a great complement to the roster's "legitimate" wrestling talent in years to come.
Karlsson was unable to attend the press conference due to his distance, but VinceNeil1981 was able to speak highly of him. "I was privileged to see Jonas wrestle in person a few months ago at an international wrestling show in Chicago, and I was very impressed with his raw skill. He may not have much in the way of charisma but he does have that 'it' factor, that 'superstar look' in his eyes. I don't want to say he'll be a future world champion just yet, but I expect him to contribute almost instantly to the show and provide some good competition to our existing talent. Very excited to bring Karlsson into the fold here in the URWL."
Lastly, the URWL was extremely pleased to come to terms with English independent icon Rally Star late last evening. Star had recently wrestled in a tryout match during a charity house show at the URWL Arena and the results of the match were extremely positive. Star's reputation as a consumate entertainer across the pond has been met with substantial buzz around the internet wrestling community and newsletters alike. News of his signing came as a surprise to many but was applauded.
Star's flamboyant persona was once described as "Elton John on Crack" by the Wrestling Observer newsletter. His outright arrogance and extreme, exaggerated display of showmanship has made him one of Britain's most hated heels. But Star, in a statement during his segment of the press conference, thinks his reputation as a "prima donna" is unnecessary. "I don't think I'm that disgusting, no," Star opined, "because there's a lot of jealousy over in Britain. The United States and Canada, on the other hand, they respect those who shine the brightest. And I'm certainly the brightest. Plus, North American girls, you know, they really accept a man who can shine. I'll just leave it at that, you know, because I'll let the critics speak. I'm far too important for words." Star, a native of London, joins Wellingbrough's Fusion as the lone representatives of Great Britain on the current URWL roster.
The URWL is currently negotiating with a multitude of independent workers and will keep the media posted of any further developments or new acquisitions as they happen.
