It’s a new year in the CAW Champions League.
The CCL hits the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada, for the next edition of Adrenaline.
When we last left you at Holiday Havoc 5, Casey Gordon held on to the world title over the Great D with the help of fellow Blacklister Mark Austin. But Gordon isn’t the only DCA superstar to win big in Los Angeles. “The Soldier” and now former DCA world champion Atlas Jones won the Money in the Bank Royal Rumble match and can now challenge for the CCL world title at any time this year. Needless to say, a lot of people are not happy about this. What will it mean for CCL?
Well, part of that may be for naught as “The Ragin’ Redneck” Ray Gettys is now the next man in line to challenge “The Destroyer”. Gettys survived a brutal last man standing match over CJ Wizard with some unlikely assistance from the returning Gregory Black. Will Gettys make the most of his opportunity this time around and become world champion?
Gregory Black wasn’t the only return at Holiday Havoc 5. Chris Knight and his wife Cleopatra Sphinx both returned to action for the first time in months, albeit under very different circumstances (Sphinx was on maternity leave, while Knight was sidelined at the hands of Austin following his beatdown at Resurrection last September). And word is, Knight’s got plenty to say.
The Constrictors also returned from a self-imposed absence, and they’ll have eyes on the tag title encounter on Adrenaline when The Brotherhood defend against the winners of Tag Team Turmoil, The Wolfpack.
On the women’s side, Taylor Starr has double gold. She became one-half of the women’s tag champions with Nadi after they knocked off the Neo-Diva Revolution at Holiday Havoc 5. Word is they’ve demanded a rematch for the titles. Surely they’ll get it, we assume. And Taylor may want to grow eyes in the back of her head: the stealthy Black Widow got herself a Money in the Bank title shot at Holiday Havoc 5 and can make use of it at any time this year. And speaking of Black Widow, she’s in action against “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix.
All this and who knows what else as we begin the countdown to Supernova Saturday on the next Adrenaline.
