According to an article published this week by ESPN WWE 2K14 will be released as scheduled this year. Yes I said WWE 2K14, the franchise is officially in the care of 2K Sports. Also yes Yukes will be hanging around as the developers however they will NOT be alone, 2K's in house development team at Visual Concepts will also take part in development learning from Yukes and implementing their own ideas. But wait there's more while some of the designers from THQ have be retained, they will NOT be in charge of the project, they will be reporting directly to Visual Concepts! Guys I'm really excited to see what this new team can bring to the table. Here is the article for your reading pleasure: WWE 2K14

Right now I'm as excited as ever about this news. Making WWE an official "2K Sports Lineup" game is going to be a huge step forward for the legitimacy of this series. Visual Concepts is one of my favorite developers because of their attention to detail. If we ever see the type of dynamic content that NBA, MLB and even the NFL games had, we're going to be in for something huge.
I don't expect a ton of changes for WWE 2K14, but this series could be moving in the right direction for the next generation with Visual Concepts at the helm.

I'm "cautiously" excited about this. Obviously, I'm glad that they're not just stopping WWE games altogether, or farming it out to some other company, but I'm also not sure that we'll get the same level of freedom with ANY other company. My wife even believes that the level of freedom we got from THQ with 13 was only because they kind of knew it was the last one and they wanted to go out with a bang. Still... I'll definitely check it out when it hits. And I'll probably buy it, because I buy every WWE game that comes across the shelf. So yeah...
