Hello, I'm new here but I am a huge fan of URWL. I'm sure I'm not the first to say this but the URWL has inspired me to start my own E-Fed on Youtube, I'm gonna call it Genesis Wrestling Society (G.W.S.). I want to ask a few questions on how to get it started: 1. I currantly own a HP Pavilion laptop that uses Windows XP. What is the best/good enough capture device to use for this type of project? 2. What are some ways I can advertise? Should I start up a board like you, if so I how I get that started? 3. Is anyone interested in helping? Referance to what I got so far is right here: ewrestling.wikia.com/wiki/Genesis_Wrestling_Society(Not sure if I could post this here, so sorry in advance.)

Welcome to the boards, reckless101. 1. I wouldn't advise you on buying internal stuff because it's for a laptop - I'd say an external capture device would be the best bet for you. Pinnacle's Moviebox and Dazzle hardware is the most affordable on the market but has some of the worst tech support of any hardware company out there, so be forewarned if you purchase one of their products. 2. Advertising at legitimate sites has become few and far between, as many sites such as CAWS.ws have rules against advertising on message boards. URN Entertainment at urnentertainment.freeforums.org/ is an emerging CAW community which I am (infrequently) a part of, and they allow all sorts of opportunities for advertising and promotion. 3. Sorry, man, I'm swamped with work both dealing with and outside the URWL...but you never know who may be available around these parts. BTW...nice wiki, I'm going to have to make one for the URWL now.

My mistake, my laptop uses Windows Vista, not XP. So is there any other capture devices I can use, cause Pinnacle Studios uses XP only. Can you also tell me the price of it, that'll be great.
PS: Thanks for the Wiki comment, obviously it's still under construction with the roster and everything.

As far as I know, Pinnacle's newer devices support Vista, but I could be mistaken. If I'm wrong, check out www.pcmag.com/category2/0,1738,396324,00.asp (paste the link into your browser window). It's got some really good devices but they're mostly only available online - usually, you won't find many high-quality video capture devices in a big-box store like Best Buy, Circuit City or (no surprise here) Wal-Mart, but if you look closely, there should be some devices out there.

I've heard a lot of good things about that specific model but I refrained from looking into it because of its high price tag. It's certainly top-of-the-line, offering both AV-in and AV-out for when you need to connect your console to your TV for lag-free gaming while capturing. It's one of the best out there but if price is a factor, I'd look somewhere else. Plus, the whole thing about Pinnacle's lack of tech support still kinda irks me a bit.

Yeah, it is expensive but hopefully I'll get the money in the next next few months or so. Is the tech support going to be a problem in this kind of project, if so, how? And how do I make the custom name-plates, Photoshop, and if so is it something I have to go out and buy or is it something I could just download 'cause I've heard stories.

When you make the CAW's entrances do you leave out the name plate for your custom name plates?

Yes, except for on tag team entrances (where they can not be removed).
I make the namebars in Photoshop and then add animation and transitions afterward in Vegas.

Will the tech support be a problem, if so, how? Can I download Photoshop or is it something I have to go out and buy?

You have to buy photoshop. Try PhotoGIMP, it may not be as good, but it's free.

How would tech support be a problem?

I, along with numerous other users at the Pinnacle forums, have a problem with the Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Pro (710-USB). We can not capture full-resolution DV video out of it. Our common problem is OS, it seems...we all use Vista Home Premium. Through numerous threads, posts and replies, no direct representative from Pinnacle has ever solved this problem, despite recently releasing a patch. Their only response is "Make sure only Pinnacle Studio 10 is running", or "Make sure the 710-USB is the only USB device plugged in", or "Your video card may not be compatible" or "Your device may be fried". I and the other users with the same problem have tried everything and there has been no answer from Pinnacle on the matter. If you do get a Pinnacle device, pray it works perfectly so that you don't have to deal with their terrible tech support.

Ok, I found the official site. www.gimp.org/ That works. Anyway good luck with your promotion. Mine first show should be up Monday. That is if Movie Make stops crashing long enough to get parts 1 and 2 of the main event ready for commentary.

So Goldash007, when URWL was in the process of going to the Youtube era did you drop all your members and their CAWs, if not, what did you do?

The URWL wasn't a CAW fed in 2003, it was an RP fed. A lot of the guys I corresponded with on the old site disappeared, for the most part. I just created CAWS of former members' wrestlers when I started it up on YouTube, along with some original creations. No mass releasing or anything like that.
Fusion's handler, for example, still corresponds with me (for example) and he's still around these boards. The same can be said about Barry White's handler, although he only posted once. As for other original URWL members, I haven't heard from many of them, just from a few here and there who have PMmed me on YouTube or IMed me about the current state of the league.
