The second CPV of season 3 has finally arrived, as the superstars of the SWF converge on Phoenix, Arizona. The war between the Hollywood Heartbreakers and the Repeat Offenders continues, as Alex Knight takes on Mike Kizzar and John Pirtle takes on Daniel Santoy. Can the newly refurbished team of the Repeat Offenders keep their momentum going? Last month at Chaos Theory, Emma Kiwi cost Carmen Madison her Femme Division Championship match. Now, in order to gain a title shot of her own, she has to face Madison one on one. What tricks will Kiwi have up her sleeve, and can Madison overcome both them and her out of ring drama to get another chance? Juan Valderaz has had it out for Kirby all year, but he never expected this. After his interjection into the SWF title match last month, the match was demanded and granted, and Valderaz will participate against Kirby in only the second Inferno match in SWF history. Who will come out the winner, and who will get burned? Chip Davis is one of the most unexpected #1 contender's in SWF history, after goading the SWF Champion into granting him a match a few weeks ago. Since then though, it's hard to tell if he's a coward or a shrewd fighter. The time for mind games is over though, as Davis finally gets his title shot. Will he pull off the upset title win of the century, or will Andrews take one more step to proving the SWF title belongs to him? I typed this while watching the show, so this post ends up reading like a novel. Oh well haha, I always room for reviews. With plans falling through to see Prometheus this evening, I sat down and took in SWF Fanning The Flames.
Both the signature and the card lineup at the beginning of the show really set the stage for everything. Love how Two Room Schoolhouse is the main sponsor, haha. Gotta work it in, I guess. (BTW any chance I can put the trailer in to HS commercial breaks? If you post it up in the commercial request thread, it'll be the first non-CAW product we've advertised, lol).
I can definitely see a rematch between the Devil Dogs and Smokin' Aces. Both teams seemed to take the other to the limit, total control of the match and execute their finishing maneuvers...however, with that finish, something tells me that regardless of there ever being a rematch, there may just be a bit more for the Aces to overcome before they become true championship material. A nice start to what I think could be an interesting (and possibly a multifaceted) feud should the SWF continue with it.
Another great finish in the IC Championship match IMHO. The hated Martin retains, but like the aforementioned Smokin Aces, Josh Arcanum has a lot of, ahem, "dirty laundry" to air before he can make another attempt at Martin's belt. Seems like something interesting may be developing around the Intercontinental belt...
Knight/Kizzar simply flew out of the gates from the opening bell and you can tell both have some great chemistry in the ring, not to mention a well-rounded array of powerful and technically-oriented attacks. AK seemed to take full control early, using his balanced attack to wear down Mike and going for the pin every chance he had. As soon as Kizzar tried to take the advantage away, however, it was sapped away in an instant in another unexpected turn of events via Mr. John Pirtle. Winner, Alex Knight, who looks to ascend to new heights, apparently leaving Mr. SureShot 2011 with his own set of problems to deal with.
Highly competitive match between Emma Kiwi and Carmen Madison, especially what will probably go down in SWF history as "the spot". "WHAT WAS THAT?" is right! Both wrestlers, however, went back to work with Emma pulling off another one of Fanning The Flames's great finishes. I think the Femme Division, especially Chalie Williams, is officially on notice, with Carmen unable to get a rematch from Chaos Theory anytime soon.
PG13 / House started off oddly slow for a hardcore match, but no one ever said these matches had to play by X-Division rules. These gentlemen eventually used the Falls Count Anywhere / Extreme Rules stipulations and made a complete mess of the ring and ringside...so much so that the SWF broadcast team had to fear for their personal safeties at ringside (great commentary there, haha). A GREAT spot by PG13 in the middle of the contest, almost breaking the table with what can only be described as a suicidal aerial attack from the ladder. Although I would've loved to see PG13 begin another reign with the Hardcore belt due to effort alone, ultimately effort alone doesn't count without a pinfall, which House uses to get the victory. "WHAT A MATCH" indeed! Awesome from start to finish with every hardcore spot and the kitchen sink thrown in for good measure. MOTN, in my honest opinion.
Juan Valderaz and Kirby square off in the Inferno Match, and the SWF broadcast team does a great job explaining what Kirby's been through as he enters the ring, really gives you a good perspective of what this man's done throughout his career as he gets ready for yet another dangerous match. A brawl from start to finish, Valderaz eventually overcomes the odds and ignites the favorited Kirby. We'll see where Juan goes from here.
John Pirtle and Daniel Santoy square off for the SWF #1 Contendership, and again, we get another unexpected conclusion courtesy of Mr. Pirtle. I was fully expecting Mike Kizzar to make some kind of return, but Pirtle made sure to continue his "career of evil" and become #1 Contender in the cheapest way possible. Through the power of instant replay, we see just how the finish came to be, and...well, knowing Pirtle's actions earlier in the event, what happened just adds fuel to his fire. Pirtle walks into Uncivil Dispute #1 Contender for the SWF Championship.
And now, the main event...challenger Chip Davis squares off against SWF Champion Kyle Andrews. Great back and forth action between both men from the onset, with the champ working over the underdog Davis with his knees. However, Davis was not to be denied, as he kept pressing for the entire match, dishing back whatever the champ gave to him and taking Andrews to the limit, eventually hitting him with the Blue Chipper that ended up being broken up by a rope break. In full desperation mode, Davis tries to win the match by going to the top, but Andrews counters by, ahem, "kicking his head OFF", in one of the evening's best spots. Winner and still champion, Kyle Andrews.
Overall, one of the best supercards of 2012...I had a great experience watching the show...commentary, matches and especially the match finishes were on point all night. These, combined with the voiceovers, give SWF a TON of personality, and Fanning The Flames was no different. My favorite match was the PG13/Connor House hardcore contest, which had a great buildup. An all around fun show from start to finish!

Thanks for the review. :-) And I'll have to check on getting you the 2 Room Schoolhouse trailer. It was given to me to advertise for a friend. I'm sure he'd love to spread his documentary all over the web if he can, but I'll need to ask him first.

I've just finished watching, I had to watch it in parts because of the length. I have enjoyed the event, I really appreciate the number of voice overs too which for me is really the stand out part of SWF. Looking forward to the next show.
