SWF Chaos Theory takes place this week from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. With the hype surrounding what might be one of most anticipated CPV’s in SWF history, we figured we would run down the card, to let you know what’s what!
Intercontinental Championship
Jay Curry v Kevin Martin (c)
(Martin chooses the stipulation)
At Mind Games VII, Kevin Martin defeated Jay Curry for the Intercontinental Championship, after a dubious series of events. Late in the match, Curry inadvertently knocked out the referee. With the rule enforcer down, Martin went to the outside, retrieved a chair, and nailed Curry in the face with it. As the referee came to, Martin made the cover (conveniently on top of the chair, so as to hide it from view) and picked up his second Intercontinental title.
Jay Curry enacted his rematch clause for Chaos Theory, but Jackie Blue decided that wasn’t enough, and on the season premiere of SWF ReVenge on February 10, she put Martin in a triple threat match along with Connor House and Pouncy to decide which champion would get to choose their stipulation for Chaos Theory. Martin won with a small package on Pouncy, and thus gets to make the call when it comes to the CPV. However, he has yet to reveal what match type he and Curry will compete in, leaving many to wonder, including Curry, who obviously can’t make a game plan not knowing what stipulation his match carries.
Femme Tag Team Championship
No Disqualifications
The True Blood Coalition v The Wild Roses (c)
Few can deny the roll the True Blood Coalition has been on over the last year and a half. Ever since forming in the buildup to Mind Games VI and winning the Femme Tag Championships, Morgan McGinnis and Lyda Masters have dominated the competition. That is, until Mind Games VII, where they ran into the unlikely team of veteran Anna Machen and rookie valet Molly Rose. Machen’s training of Rose shaped her into quite an accomplished competitor, and the two made a run at the titles, successfully defeating the True Blood Coalition at the biggest event in the SWF.
Not ones to lie down though, McGinnis and Masters set out on a road of terror, beginning at the CAW[n]spiracy event, where they viciously attacked Machen. A few weeks later, at the season premiere of ReVenge, they issued their rematch challenge, and the stage was set. At Chaos Theory, the two teams meet again with one added bonus… no disqualifications. Also, don’t forget TBC leader Emma Kiwi’s words to McGinnis and Masters: “Win the titles back, or don’t come back at all.”
Hardcore Championship
Falls Count Anywhere Match
Colt LeGalley v Connor House (c)
Connor House believes himself to be the “future” of the SWF, and he took the first step towards self-fulfilling prophet last season when he came into Mind Games VII and won the Hardcore Championship from Colt LeGalley in one of the most brutal ladder matches in recent memory. After a stunning display against both LeGalley and fellow challenger Josh Arcanum, House emerged victorious, but LeGalley wasn’t going to let that slip by. He enacted his rematch clause, and the two will meet, one on one this time, at Chaos Theory. With Brooke again barred from ringside, can House continue his rise to the top?
United States Championship
Josh Arcanum v Pouncy (c)
Few superstars had the year that Josh Arcanum did. After debuting at High Stakes last season, he was immediately thrust into the forefront, participating in one of the most brutal matches in recent memory, a triple threat ladder match at Mind Games VII. However, it was not to be that night, but on the season premiere of ReVenge, he started his own path by defeating Eric Ridgeway and becoming the #1 Contender to the United States Championship.
On the other side of the ring, Pouncy also comes off a banner year, after becoming the Undisputed United States Champion in a vicious TLC match over Kyle Andrews last season, he continued his success. However, many wonder at his ability to put away this new challenger, who possesses speed and strength he’s not yet seen as champion. Also, with Pouncy’s mind possibly on his “business associate” Carmen Madison, does he have the focus to pull out the win? Or will Arcanum gain his first taste of gold in the SWF?
Tag Team Championship
The Hollywood Heartbreakers v The Devil Dogs (c)
Two teams that are almost mirror images of each other. Wily veterans Daniel Santoy and Scooter Pondoff, step-brothers, once again stand across the ring from one another, accompanied by their rookie protégés Mike Kizzar and Travis Grant, respectively.
Last year, Pondoff and Grant became the SWF Tag Team Champions by finally being the team to knock off long time champs Dandy and Dexter at Mind Games VII. This after Grant was brought in mere months before to replace Scooter’s injured tag partner. The two former Marines immediately took the tag division by storm, and pulled off the near impossible. On the other side of things, Santoy and Kizzar spent much of their year taking on hated rivals The Repeat Offenders, the very same team they defeated two weeks ago to win the #1 Contendership.
Pondoff and Santoy, understandably, are very familiar with each other, and thus this match becomes mainly about the newcomers, Kizzar and Grant. Which team will come away with the win and the tag titles?
Femme Division Championship
Carmen Madison v Chalie Williams (c)
The words of Chalie Williams, “It wasn’t personal,” ring hollow going into Chaos Theory. After defeating Carmen Madison at Mind Games VII in a fast paced fatal four way match that also included Emma Kiwi and Abigail Fate, Williams and Madison have shown time and again that perhaps their battle IS just a bit personal.
On the season premiere of ReVenge, Madison and Williams were forced to team up, but when the True Blood Coalition showed up and laid waste to the Femme Division Champion, Madison left the ring and allowed her partner to take the beating. A week later the two confronted each other in the ring, with Williams accusing Madison of allowing the beat down to take place to soften her up for their rematch at Chaos Theory. The two finally met, albeit in a tag match, one week later to finally set the stage for their epic encounter this week.
Of course, the wild card in all of this is Emma Kiwi. Although she has stated that she doesn’t care who wins at Chaos Theory, she has shown that she’s not above making sure everyone loses. Which woman will come out the Femme Division Champion? Will Madison get revenge for Mind Games, or will Williams prove to be more than just a transitionary champion?
Singles Match
John Pirtle v Alex Knight
The only non-title match on the card, but also one of the most highly anticipated. Pirtle and Knight finally lock up this week at Chaos Theory.
They met before in the semi-finals of the SureShot tournament last season. Pirtle won to advance to the finals against Mike Kizzar at Mind Games, but Knight apparently had other ideas. He showed up at the event, costing Pirtle the win and the SureShot contract, a fact that Pirtle would stew on through the off-season. Flash forward to two weeks ago, when the Repeat Offenders took on their longtime rivals, the Hollywood Heartbreakers, for the #1 Contendership to the tag titles. Once again, Knight made his presence known, distracting Pirtle long enough for Kizzar to hit the California Screamer for the win.
Pirtle had finally had enough, and challenged the young Knight to a match at Chaos Theory, a match that Knight gladly accepted. And so the two meet once again in San Diego. Can Knight back up his words and actions, or will Pirtle silence his Scottish adversary once and for all?
SWF Championship
Juan Valderaz v Kirby v Kyle Andrews
The road to this match is a long and twisted one. Kyle Andrews won the 2011 High Stakes match, earning an SWF title shot at Mind Games VII. He took that shot, a horrific match inside a Hell in a Cell, against Kirby. The two fought through a match that certainly shortened both of their careers, but in the end, Andrews came out on top to win his first SWF Championship. However, the big green monster had one more trick… his rematch clause, which he enacted to get a title match at Chaos Theory.
However, into this situation came Juan Valderaz, who had won a fatal four way match to kick off Mind Games, earning himself the right to participate in any title match at Chaos Theory. Going for the gusto, he interjected himself rather abruptly into the SWF title picture, attacking Kirby from behind with a steel chair and decimating the big man on February 10 at ReVenge. He continued his methods the following week, getting himself disqualified but still sending a message to Kirby that he was willing to do anything for the championship.
Andrews finally seemed to take notice of the new challenger the following week, facing Valderaz one on one. Again, Juan proved he has every right to be in the match, but before he could finish off Andrews, Kirby appeared again and unloaded on his fellow challenger, proving that he wasn’t going to just step aside and let Valderaz have his shot.
Thus the three meet at Chaos Theory, with the title on the line. Will Andrews overcome the odds and retain his newfound SWF Championship? Or will Kirby step up to regain what he believes is rightfully his? Or will both of them suffer defeat at the hands of their unexpected opponent, Juan Valderaz?
Stay tuned this week to SWF television to find out!
