Here is some advice from my perspective, and I'm sure the rest of the Rantboard will be more than willing to help. I've been doing e-wrestling and CAW on and off for the past ten years, so I've been around the block and seen many ideas come and go throughout that time... For starters, you need a way of bringing your footage in to your computer. Some choose to videotape their TV's, however that results in subpar picture, bad audio, reflections and glare. Many CAW league owners invest in video capturing hardware (either internally - a Blackmagic Intensity Pro is what I use in my Mac Pro, or externally - an Hauppauge HDPVR is a popular tool of choice, so is a Pinnacle Dazzle --- the earlier URWL shows used a pretty high quality Sony DV Firewire device that is no longer made). Next, you need a way of editing your video and audio. The latter is probably most easiest - a program called Audacity ( audacity.sourceforge.net/) is among the most powerful and FREE software solutions for beginners. Editing your matches may prove tougher, as video editing suites often cost a lot of money. Windows Movie Maker suffices, but you won't be able to go the extra mile with snazzy motion graphics, et cetera. You will have to invest some coin in Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects if you want to do that. Anyhoo, on to your numbered questions ---- 1. The most important thing you can do when coming up with your league's name is thinking outside the box, as the name will be the first thing your viewers will see. Too many leagues have used "Xtreme" (or a variant) far too often. Don't use it. Instead, think of unique words, initials and formats. When I came up with the URWL's name back in 1999/2000, four letter names were relatively uncommon. Now, there's not only the URWL but the XGWL and even the UCWL. Be creative as well as catchy with your naming selections, as it's going to be front and center. 2. My advice would be to start small (which means smaller cards at first) and adding talent incrementally as you get ideas. Many leagues tend to use characters from Community Creations, which I don't mind, but if you want your league to truly stand out in terms of its characters, stick with all original ideas (or premade characters, whatever your intended style is). Too much too soon can also be a bad thing, so from my perspective, start out with 3-5 match cards and work your way up, so that your viewers can get to know the characters you plan to push the highest up the card right from the onset. An announce team is fine as long as you have the real life people to provide the voices (unless you're able to do both voices yourself, which is perfectly fine if you can pull it off convincingly). Start out with your key elements first. What wrestlers/talent must the show ABSOLUTELY use? If you have your top talent in mind, use them on the first show and move them straight to the upper midcard/main event as your roster expands. 3. I'm glad you decided to use the Rantboard as a resource. I hope the rest of the many league owners that frequent these boards will be able to provide you with further insight on how to get your show started. If there's any other questions you'd like to ask me in regards to starting a new show, go right ahead.

On wrestlers you intend to create if you need names my advice is to look at names all around you, not just in wrestling. I'm fortunate enough to work where I see a lot of names and they are really weird and wonderful at times. Also not many people know this but a lot of my CAWs have the initials of people that I know.
As for attires I usually look all around for inspiration, some things cannot be done but they still give you an idea.
There is also the CC if you are after specific caws.
Also as Goldash said try smaller cards first, just so you can know what you can handle.
I hope this helps, as I wasn't really sure on what type of league you are running, i.e original caws, fantasy caws or mixture of real wrestlers and originals etc.
As for where there are a number of video hosting sites to use Youtube is a popular one as is Blip tv, others probably know more out there.
Edit: Something I struggled with was getting a CAW league known at the time, and I am still at a loss as to how without blatantly leeching off other leagues to get known. So I'd like to know how people would go about advertising their leagues. Besides the URWL commercial slot.

"Gold-dashing" and Jay covered it up, pretty much. Only thing I could say at this point is have fun while doing your shows, and don't put too much pressure on your shoulders just to get it out there.

If I remember right there already is an OWA, which really doesn't matter if your willing to deal with a few people who don't like leagues having the same initials.

Professional type, right, but is it with Original CAWs (URWL-styled), real wrestlers, fantasy characters or mixed (SMF-styled)?

I'd say think out of the box when coming up with a name for your league, as there are many leagues out there using the names you mentioned.
BTW it doesn't have to be those to sound professional. You can achieve a certain level of professionalism as the whole product, which includes the show creativity, the way you work your characters, the production values, the commentary, you name it.
Since there are many leagues out there, think about what they're lacking and develop it into yours.
