We've seen the great work being done for CAW leagues on the internet, but we haven't seen the same type of treatment for other sports. Sure, other gamers have made "video dynasties" of their Madden or MLB: The Show Franchises or "video recaps" of franchise games, or even self-commentated games of baseball with classic rosters...but we haven't seen the full-out immersion CAW offers as applied to other sports.
So, an idea came to me the other day. Backbreaker is coming out soon, and it's a console football game unlike any other. It allows for total league and team customization, meaning that the gamer can create his or her own custom football universe in a console football title. I feel as if Backbreaker can offer this kind of immersion and customizability more than past titles such as Blitz The League and All-Pro 2K8. You now have full control over your logo, team, players and such.
So this is what I'm thinking...trying an idea out that matches my vision with the URWL with a totally blank slate in football. However, it won't be full games, more like a "highlight reel show" of big plays and such with commentary and graphics.
Also, I plan to do a sort of "profile" on every team in the league, with mythology and backstories similar to what I do with URWL wrestlers in the normal show.
I have no idea what this league's going to be called, but it's going to follow the same "show" format and idea as the URWL. HOWEVER, I may be willing to grant "team ownership" to any interested people, as my team ideas may be running thin (I already discussed a team idea with a deviantART member, so if I open team ideas up to you guys, it may work, at least for bragging rights' sake).
Not sure how I'm going to approach this project, but it'll be a hell of a lot of fun trying to approach the drama and professional football as I do the URWL.
And no, it won't be Goldash's XFL, so get that thought out of your mind. It won't be wrestling-inspired or have "angles". It'll be a legitimate, ESPN-type look at teams and players. So get those comparisons out of the back of your dirty minds, you silly, silly people.
More on this in the future. And if Backbreaker turns into a joke, I'll probably be scrapping the idea entirely. STAY TUNED.
