Road to Rebirth hits the airwaves next week! Before that time arrives, let's focus in on the top stories surrounding the undercard show.
The URWL is Back!
The official kick-off to Season 3 and the URWL's tenth anniversary season, Road to Rebirth will be an early sneak peek at the new talent, wrestling and production of the URWL. Despite not being the "official" kick-off show (that's Rebirth itself), Road promises to kick start Season 3 into high gear.
The First-Ever Womens' Main Event in URWL History
Road to Rebirth will be a historic night in womens' wrestling, as for the first time in URWL history, two women will headline a URWL card. The Cyberpunk, formerly known as Jesse Slash, collides with the mysterious debuting "Luchadora Americana", Hija Suicida, in a potentially unpredictable battle. Can the former undefeated Womens' Champion avoid embarrassment and stop the buzz surrounding Suicida? Whatever happens, Road to Rebirth's main event looks to create some much needed enthusiasm in the URWL Womens' Division.
Salvatore and Hog Williker Provide Veteran Experience on a Youth-Oriented Card
While three of Road to Rebirth's matches feature debuting rookie talent, one offers a battle between two grizzled competitors. Salvatore has seen his reputation wither since returning at Discontent 2007, and the former text-era URWL Champion looks to finally break out of the cellar with a win over Hog Williker. Hog Williker, on the other hand, looks to use his unrivaled amateur wrestling style to his advantage as he aims to climb the Power Rankings.
Hotly Anticipated Debuts of Rally Star and Jonas Karlsson
Rally Star, who held the honor of "England's Most Hated Independent Professional Wrestler" last year, and Jonas Karlsson, one of Sweden's most accomplished in-ring workers, square off in their North American professional wrestling debuts. Star, a flamboyant, narcissistic but highly-talented wrestler, aims to ride the momentum surrounding his hugely successful British independent career into a win. But Jonas Karlsson, a world-renowned technician and powerhouse, won't make it easy for the brash, arrogant Star. Both lauded as future URWL main eventers, only one man will come out the winner and further his career going into Season 3.
Dark Dragon Returns, but Darius Gash Plans to Ruin Homecoming
Dark Dragon hasn't wrestled in the URWL since 2001. His return match at Road to Rebirth brings him back to a completely different URWL HighFlyer Division than the one he helped to establish. Another HighFlyer, however, aims to spoil the party. Darius Gash, an energetic, enigmatic former skateboarder who has turned heads on the American independent wrestling circuit the past two years, anticipates to thwart the veteran at every juncture. Will experience or youth prevail in the opening match of the evening?
