DALLAS, TX: Hard at work in preparation for his upper-midcard clash with undefeated URWL Hardkore Champion Akina, former HighFlyer Champion Cory Jones spoke earlier this evening about being "misrepresented" in the new URWL Rebirth trailer.
"I want answers," said Cory, in-between jogging and lifting at a local gym, "That trailer misrepresented my character, my values, my philosophy as a wrestler, everything in the book. No longer am I 'CobrA', the hardcore crony of the white trash Buffalo hick I call a brother. My name is Cory Jones, and I am a legitimate talent. I will not bludgeon my opponents with weaponry or jump off the top turnbuckle in order to send my opponent through a ringside table. I'm a born-again wrestler, someone who looks to the legends of the past...Verne Gagne, Lou Thesz, Gorgeous George, true icons who could wrestle circles around anyone who calls himself a 'sports entertainer' in the 21st Century. For decades, those legends never used a weapon, never mutilated themselves with razors, never crashed through tables...and respected their opponents, the fans and the promoters they worked for."
"The URWL is crazy to suggest that I would ever consider using weapons in my match against the sellout they call Akina," Jones continued. "Forget what the stip is. Forget it involves using ladders and other weaponry. At Rebirth, Akina, I'll show you, and the URWL, just what I mean. I will use no weaponry in this contest. I will end your winning streak and retire your Hardkore Title with only my hands and feet. And then, with you humiliated, title-less and defeated at Rebirth, Akina, I'm going to set my sights on Digital Mayhem 2010 and your new best friend, the 'icon of trash wrestling' in the URWL, Scorpion. And after I eradicate 'hardcore' from this great organization's lexicon, I'm going to set my sights higher..."
Cory Jones, aiming to make a tremendous statement, continued. "...Jaime Emo, don't think I'm not watching you every chance I get. Because one day, Emo, we're going to have to collide. And I guarantee, Jaime, that that match's outcome will not be in your favor. You may be an impressive talent, sure, but your time will come. And with hardcore wrestling gone, Akina too embarrassed to continue and Scorpion returning home to see Buffalo crumble before his eyes...I will prove that I am the embodiment of wrestling purity in the URWL. My title victory will coincide with a new era of professional wrestling, an era where a new generation of talents like Gagne and Thesz can re-emerge and win the hearts of millions once again with pure, no-nonsense athleticism and skill."
Finally, Jones closed with two simple sentences, his goals and ambitions realized. "I'm sick of being labeled 'underrated'. At Rebirth, you're going to see the Cory Jones that trailer couldn't show you."
