Yes, it's something a lot of you have been waiting to hear. We're opening up the URWL roster to your creations. HOWEVER, only TWO lucky Rantboarders will actually get the opportunity to be a full-time "member".
It's a little something I like to call "You Are URWL". Here are the important rules and regulations for the contest:
1.) There will be two categories of CAW entries, male and female. One winner will be selected from EACH category.
2.) These CAWs must be SVR2010 creations AND shareable over SVR2010 Xbox Live Community Creations in order for easy and painless transportation. I'm sorry, PS2 and PS3 guys, but if you want to enter the contest, I suggest you find, rent or borrow an Xbox 360 with Xbox Live. It's the easiest and quickest way possible for me at this point.
3.) Winners will be selected in two polls in the forthcoming "You Are URWL" section of the Rantboard. These polls, like the previous Popular Demand and FCA polls, will have results disabled in order to create anticipation and suspense.
3.5.) You may vote for your own creation if you want since you will only be able to vote once. This is not recommended, however, since it's not a respectful thing to do...but at the end of the day, you make the call, and it's all up to you. If you plan on bending this rule, expect to pay the consequences (more on that later).
4.) Rantboarders can submit CAWs to both categories but no one member will win both gender categories. If, by some chance, one user's creations end up winning both gender categories, a PM will be sent to the creator asking the creator to choose a preference. Therefore, the winner's non-preferred gender will be won by the user with the second-highest vote total.
4.5.) You can only submit a maximum of ONE CAW in both categories. Multiple entries in one gender category will be disregarded unless you PM me saying "I made a mistake" or something to that effect.
5.) Attempts to create multiple "fake" accounts or aliases in order to "rig" the voting for your wrestler will instantly be detected by myself, VinceNeil1981 and our mods. If you try this, not only will you be permanently banned from the Rantboard but you will also be ineligible to win the vote. So if you're out to pull a fast one on us in order to have your CAW win, remember that I can see who votes and who they vote for. Like the Rantboard War, FCA's and the Popular Demand 2008 voting, I want this to be as fair as possible. So, don't try anything stupid if you want to win.
6.) If you enter, you will be required to carry yourself maturely and respectfully to myself, Vince and your fellow Rantboarders. If you win, don't belittle any of the other nominees or brag about how good you are. If you lose, don't complain that people didn't vote or that Vince and I "conspired against you" or plot some kind of e-terrorism against us. Anything like this will NOT be tolerated and will result in a permanent ban. If you plan to do anything stupid, don't do it here. We have a respectful community here on the Rantboard, so if you plan to take it out on any of us with blackmail, threats or extortion, we can make sure that you aren't seen anywhere near our forums again.
7.) NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE, NO FAVORITES WILL BE PLAYED. Period, final, end of story, done.
7.25.) Mods are free to enter the contest but once they do, they hold the same standing as any Rantboarder in the contest. If a mod wins, it is ENTIRELY by coincidence and not because Goldash is helping a mod out. If I hear any accusations in the event of a mod winning...no, I won't permanently ban you, but give you a severe warning and ask you to stop making ridiculous accusations.Once again, NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE, NO FAVORITES WILL BE PLAYED.
7.5.) Like the Rantboard War, the only two Rantboarders ineligible for this contest are myself and VinceNeil1981. Sorry, Vince, but you already have some of your own CAWs on the show.
8.) I'm fine with people joining the forums in order to enter this contest without a previous post or with a low post count. It's something I considered and thought about and I felt that this decision was best. However, to be fair to those who have been forumgoers for years, I will ask any new members to actively join in discussions, and that means legitimately, no spam. If I don't see that you are active on the forums by the time Digital Mayhem rolls around, I may disqualify you regardless of how many votes you have. Yes, this may be harsh for some of you but I would like you to be a community-oriented person in order to be a part of the URWL.
9.) In order to enter, please PM me with your wrestler's name, gender, vital stats (height, weight), finishing maneuver, theme music, heel/face affiliation and keywords for the CAW on Xbox Live's SVR2010 Community Creations. Also, if you have the technology to do so, provide me with an eye-catching "teaser image" for the voting poll that will draw users to your CAW. You must provide a good enough look at your CAW in your "teaser" image. It doesn't have to be CAW menu shots, just something that you hope will give potential voters something to look forward to. When you PM me your creation, use the subject line "You Are URWL: (MALE/FEMALE) Entry".
9.25.) Teaser images are not required if you aren't able to provide one. It's recommended, however, if you want to provide users with a good look at your creation. If need be, I may be able to take a screenshot for you, but the screenshot will only be of your wrestler on the CAW viewer on Community Creations (no exceptions). I have a show to make above anything else, so don't expect to see the screenshot until the voting polls open.
9.5.) Teaser images must give viewers a good luck at your wrestler. Don't touch up your CAW's appearance in Photoshop or place too many fancy filters on it. If I see that your actual CAW looks nothing like it does in your Teaser image in SVR, I will take the image down and ask you to make a new one. Yes, you can be creative and use image filters but don't make it so it distorts the image of your wrestler.
9.75.) If any of you want to go the extra mile to promote your wrestler or show off your wrestler's trademark moves and finishers, I will allow you to make optional "campaign videos" for your creation that will be shown during the HighStakes and Roughness episodes that lie before Digital Mayhem 2010 (Rebirth, however, will not feature any of these). You are free to post these videos on YouTube for extra promotion, but these videos must be in downloadable form when submitted to me in a PM, as YouTube has recently stepped up its security on downloaded videos for some strange reason (I had trouble transferring videos from YouTube while producing Episode 9). When you PM me your "campaign ad", use the subject line "You Are URWL: (WRESTLER'S NAME) Campaign Ad"
10.) Entries will be collected until a specific deadline (which I haven't set as of right now). When that deadline passes, the voting forum will be opened and voting will begin.
11.) You can use custom finishing maneuvers. However, these custom finishers MUST be available on SVR2010's Xbox Live Community Creations in order for me to use them.
12.) Do NOT submit pre-existing characters, copyrighted characters, superheroes, celebrities, cartoon characters, athletes, existing professional wrestlers, or anything that previously exists that you, yourself, did not create. Also, any sort of "science-fiction" or "non-human" characters (unless it's a human wrestler that wears a costume) will not be allowed, as it will clash with the realistic nature of the show.
12.25.) Do NOT create malicious, belittling or degrading parodies of any existing URWL wrestler or other CAW league's wrestler. Do NOT steal anyone else's CAW from another league. You CAN, however, use your own characters from other leagues, someone else's original creation WITH PERMISSION OF THE ORIGINAL CREATOR (I will double-check with the original creator myself on my own time) or your own, custom made character.
12.5.) Wrestlers with inflammatory, obscene, pornographic or racist characters or attire will immediately be rejected.
13.) Results will be unveiled during Digital Mayhem 2010 around May 2010, joining the Rantboard War and the Season 2 Fans' Choice Awards in a sort of "triple threat of viewer participation". Both winners will be unveiled and featured in matches during the Digital Mayhem 2010 undercard show, which will be posted before Digital Mayhem this coming spring.
14.) If your creation wins the voting, Vince and I will be granted creative control. No dramatic changes to a character (like changing appearances, moves or gimmicks or face/heel turns) will be made without your consent, however. Please keep this in mind before entering - if we get any complaints about how your wrestler isn't being used correctly, we'll be one step closer to never doing this contest again and considering whether or not to keep your wrestler on-screen at all. Please be aware of this - this is one of the reasons why we don't normally accept other people's creations. Like I said before, any attempts at "extorting" myself or Vince will not be tolerated and will result in a permanent banning and your character's removal from the show. We didn't start this contest to control egos or babysit people and we don't intend to do it after the contest is over, either.
15.) We're doing this for YOU. People have always asked to be a part of the league, and the new CAW roster expansion in SVR2010 makes this possible. If I feel that certain people are making the experience a living hell for me, I won't ever consider doing something like this a second time. Keep that in the back of your mind if you decide to break the rules in order to get the win. Like the Rantboard War, I expect this contest to be a respectful competition. You can engage in a bit of light trash-talk here and there but if I think you're going too far...well, I don't need to say it, because you already know what the consequences are if you read this entire post.
