(ORCHARD PARK, NY): As preproduction begins for Rebirth, and as URWL wrestlers from around the world converge upon URWL H.Q. in Orchard Park for their pre-show training, URWL CEO Goldash007 and Chairman VinceNeil1981 have announced that two URWL veterans who have "not appeared in a URWL ring in some time" will be making appearances at Rebirth.
However, one of those wrestlers remains a mystery.
No stranger to mystery himself, the only official veteran announced to be making a comeback to the URWL ring during the Road to Rebirth pre-show is Japanese-born HighFlyer Dark Dragon, who last wrestled in the URWL in its first full year of existence, 2001. Dragon, who never really rose to popularity as much as his contemporary, Trent Tail (who also wrestled during that period in the URWL's history), is one of the founders of what is now the URWL HighFlyer Division. The veteran, who has competed in various Japanese puroresu leagues and Mexican lucha libre organizations during his time away from the URWL, is a fast-moving, mysterious and unpredictable force in the ring.
VinceNeil1981 called the recent signing of Dragon "something I wanted to do for a long time." In a press conference, Vince was quoted as saying, "Dragon was something special when he debuted back in 2001, and we realized he had a ton of potential, but he wasn't consistent enough to become a URWL mainstay...nearly ten years later, though, he has matured and shown that his skills as a wrestler are very impressive. There's no doubt he'll make life tough for those in the HighFlyer Division, and we're sure he'll make an impact in his second go-around in the URWL."
However, the URWL staff is keeping mum on the second veteran scheduled to make an appearance at Rebirth. No one is sure who the man will be, but CEO Goldash007 offered a few hints.
"You'll all be pleased to know that we're returning one of our all-time greats to the fold," Goldash said, "a man who all of you remember very well. He was a consistent talent, a great champion in our early days and a fan favorite but someone who I regret having to part with in 2003 when the UNW closed. He's an excellent tag team wrestler, an electrifying solo wrestler and someone who's chomping at the bit to return to the wrestling industry after being in semi-retirement. He's been one of our biggest names in our nearly ten years of business, and I'm very pleased to have him back. Who is he, you ask? That's for me to know, and, sadly, for you to find out."
Dark Dragon may be guaranteed to wrestle at the Road to Rebirth pre-show, but who this "mystery veteran" is remains exactly that; a mystery. Will Rebirth be another "night of surprises" for the URWL?
