All right, all right, let's just get this out of the way quickly: Jericho's haircut makes him look a lot more like Jon Bon Jovi and less like the classic King of the World we all know and love. It wasn't jarring for me last night, simply because I knew he had that hairstyle a couple weeks ago when he talked about his book and a little bit about his return and the promos surrounding it on CBC's The Hour with George Strombolopoulous (damn, I love living near the border...).
Now, he's back in the WWE, and for those who haven't seen it, it was pretty unspectacular on paper but pretty amazing given the circumstances. Will this be the WWE's return to the 2003-2004 policy of "giving the belt to the super-over returning newcomer"? Let's hope so.
While I wasn't a big fan of that policy back when Goldberg, Nash and Hogan (albeit on SmackDown) got the strap back in 2003, I am eager for its return now. WWE needs to capitalize on Jericho while he's hugely over, and that's in the next month. Hell, give him the strap ASAP. Either that, or have the man win the Rumble...because if WWE waits too long on this, we'll have yet another missed opportunity.
The WWE's titles are insignificant, it seems. It used to be that winning the title was an accomplishment from the fans' perspective. Now, to me, a guy that's been watching wrestling all of his life, it seems that Championship Gold is just something for any Tom, Dick and Harry (or John, Randy, or Dave) to hold up his tights with. But that's another rant for another day. (But in closing, I want my URWL championships to mean something in the eyes of the fans. To me, they at least have some importance, to you, maybe not...but I want these titles to seem more significant than WWE has been making them. Now, back on topic...)
...so, long story short (and rambling about the WWE aside), give Jericho the strap, Stamford, and quickly.
