Original URWL member SPECTRE, pictured at a October 4th URWL house show in New Haven, Connecticut, aims to exert his veteran influence immediately.
ORCHARD PARK, NY: In a night of surprises and upsets, one wrestler found his name on the lips of many a confused spectator. Taking matters into his own hands, original URWL member and multiple-time URWL champion Spectre was unrestrained in his attack on current "Russian" champion Aleksandar Kuleshov, eventually using his experience and in-ring tactical knowledge to gain the upper hand on the defiant Rookie of the Year. To longtime URWL followers, it was a return to form of a talent who ended his text-era career in disappointment. Spectre wouldn't have it any other way.
"I wanted to start things off with a bang, enough with the whimpers," Spectre proclaimed in a press interview following Unrivaled Ambition. The forty-one year old veteran hasn't lost a step - his recent appearances in Japanese promotions over the past few years solidifies this claim. "I'm better than I've been in years, and I'm ready to prove to this new generation of URWL wrestlers and fans that I intend to make history instead of being it."
Arguably the URWL's most successful tag team wrestler, Spectre won multiple championships as founder of the ultra-successful Risen From The Dead tag teams. The five iterations of RFTD teamed Spectre with elite talents --- The Hammer (the temporary but noteworthy original), Juggernaut (multiple tag team champions RFTD 2), Scorpion (the equally successful RFTD 3), Barry White (in the short-lived RFTD 4) and John Shaft (who Spectre ended his text era career with in RFTD 5) have all etched their respective places in the annals of the text era. Spectre remained the only constant of the everchanging RFTD lineup, an elite talent renowned for his intensity and prowess in a URWL ring. His hard work and reckless abandon led him to capture the URWL Championship on two occasions, immortalizing him as one of the league's most successful talents.
"I've walked many roads in my career," Spectre stated. "The life of a professional wrestler is a neverending highway without streetlights on the edge of the night. There are moments of loss and of triumph --- but I've paid my dues, and I'm ready to show this new generation that I've been through hell, and I'm hell-bent on earthing it."
His attack on the undefeated Kuleshov left many URWL fans to question his reasoning. It was a seemingly random attack, one that equally surprised and confused the sold-out URWL Arena crowd. "You probably already know what I'm going to say about this, but I'm going to say it anyway," Spectre confidently claimed. "I did it for a reason. Kuleshov battled many URWL veterans in his short career, including my good friend The Commander...but I can guarantee you he hasn't faced anyone as unexpectedly intense as yours truly. This kid has been making a mockery of the veteran talent on this roster for far too long, and it's high time I stood up for the dudes in the back that feel the same way. He thinks he's above professional wrestling, so it's high time he literally caught hell."
With Kuleshov preparing for a title unification match in the main event of HighStakes, he will surely be concentrating on Spectre's clash with fellow original URWL member Blood. "I've faced Blood...well, hundreds of times," Spectre said. "He knows exactly what to expect, but I don't think he understands just what I have in store. He's going to have to bring that old sadistic fire back, because I'll have the fires of Hell burning through my arteries, and you best believe that's a fire uncontained by any man." This text-era throwback of former URWL Champions and main event competitors promises to be a rare treat in a league dominated by youth and agility. "You're in store for an old-school brawl," Spectre concluded.
Regardless of what happens at HighStakes, Spectre looks to become an instant factor in his return to URWL competition. His relentlessness and experience may prove advantageous, especially in comparison to the growing inexperience of the current roster. Whatever the case, Spectre aims to continue "raising hell" in the URWL.
