[MEXICO, D.F.]: URWL employee and former HighFlyer Title contender Taurus was injured Tuesday after landing awkwardly in an independent booking for lucha libre promotion Voladores del Ring.
Taurus, fighting against lucha libre superstar Puma Roja, attempted to reverse a top-rope hurricanrana by landing on his feet. Instead, his left knee buckled as his feet clumsily hit the mat, essentially botching his descent. The match ended prematurely when Puma Roja went for the pin as soon as he noticed the danger. Stretchers soon followed, escorting Taurus to an eventual diagnosis of a torn left ACL. Head VDR physio Altimio Gonsalves had no estimation of Taurus's recovery.
Just days before the incident, Taurus was interviewed in the Estrellas de Lucha publication. He was excited to return to active URWL competition and continue his war with Victor Cordaro, unaware that a potentially career-threatening injury would eventually sideline him.
News reached the cocky Cordaro early Wednesday morning. "This is the best news I have heard all year long," Cordaro stated. "I beat the perro chingado in the cage and it's gonna be a long time before he acts stupid again."
He then shifted his attention to HighFlyer Champion Trent Tail, who he will face at Unrivaled Ambition in a six-man elimination tag team match. "Listen, canadiense, you lucky punk...now that Toro ain't coming back, your title is mine. You think I care about your comeback? I don't have time for you or no one. All I care is to win...quiero ser campeĆ³n. Ain't never gonna let it go."
The re-debut of HighStakes, in which Taurus was originally scheduled to compete, pits rookie Darius Gash, the debuting Chimera and the returning Dark Dragon against one another. The winner receives a shot at the number one contendership of the URWL HighFlyer Title on the debut of URWL Roughness against none other than Victor Cordaro.
"Do you think I care who I'm going to face? Todos son perdedores," Cordaro retorted. "But that's not all I'm looking at. At Unrivaled Ambition, Mr. Tail, you will see why you must fear el nuevo Cordaro. Things just got more interesting for you, pendejo."
Cordaro and the newly-named Equal Opportunity Enforcers will take on HighFlyer Champion Tail and URWL Tag Team Champions the Great White North at Unrivaled Ambition.
